My mother has demanded that she join my father in walking me down the asile at my wedding.
She has clearly stated she does not support my wedding at all, and has not said one kind word about my getting engaged. She is not paying for our wedding and she has not even talked about it with me. This was the only thing she cared about or brought up. I am not going to honor this request, that being said.
Who has both parents walking them down?

Re: Are both parents walking you down the asile?
i did! I'm Jewish and that's the custom. DH was walked by both of his parents too
Both of our parents were extremely supportive of our relationship, and it was very important to my mom that she walk me down the aisle too. DH isn't Jewish and wasn't sure if he wanted to have his parents walk him down, but decided that he would shortly before the wedding because I preferred it, and it was a nice thing to do.
We also had our grandparents walk down at the beginning of the procession (not sure if non-Jewish weddings do this) because it is also a Jewish tradition, and we felt it is a great way to honor our grandparents and celebrate the fact that we have 7 living grandparents. It was extremely important to my grandfather who isn't in the best of health, but managed to walk down with just a cane and my grandmother's assistance.
I'm only having my father walk me down the aisle. My mom doesn't want to be part of that anyway, more traditional in that sense. She will be escorted by another family member or one of the groomsmen before the procession.

I actually thought about it...but think both parents would likely wont to stick to the tradition of just my Dad. But if your mom isnt supportive at all ...I wouldnt include her. I'm sorry she isnt happy for you! Does she like your FH?

She doesn't dislike my FH because he is such a gentleman and no parent could ever flat out dislike him. There are things about him she thinks are horrible...don't laugh here's her list: He's a school teacher and will never be a rich man, i'll always have to work He's always opening doors for me and pulling out chairs and that makes him too old fashioned He has said to her 'I will always take car of Jess and protect her' and my mom thinks that I can protect and take care of myself.
It goes on and on but it's just rediclous. He and I just laugh. My father adores him (and yes my parents are still married)

My mother is Jewish so this makes sense, I didn't know it was a tradition. Your picture is seriously beautiful! We only have one set of grandparents but I would love to have them walk down! I love his grandparents to peices and I feel so blessed they are healthy!

I am kind of laughing...sorry. Those are pretty crazy things to be upset about. He sounds like a great guy. I'll be honest...my parents would have been thrilled if I found a rich dr or lawyer rather than a carpenter...but they still love my FH regardless. I hope it all works out for you. At least your Dad loves him! Maybe he will set your mom straight : )

thank you! yes, it is a tradition. I think the grandparents walking down thing is really nice... and a great honor. I'm sad I didn't get to see it because i walked out last, but having it on video is worth it just for that moment. we dont have all of our proofs back yet, but i have some great non-pro ceremony pictures that i am so happy to have.

My father will be walking me down the asile. While I am very close with my mother, this is kind of my fathers moment to shine. He deserves it. I will be honoring my mother at the reception with a bday cake since her bday is the day before.

It will be just my father walking me down the aisle. I think if your mother doesn't support your marriage why would she want to be there to give you away? I would have a conversation w/ her about this and your feelings about it.

I will probably have both parents. If your mom doesnt support the wedding, I dont see why she would want to talk you down the aisle. In the end its your decision

I'm just having my dad...both my parents raised me equally, but I'm traditional and I'm sure my dad is looking forward to walking his first daughter down the aisle.

Minus the marrying on my aunt and uncle's anniversary. This is me too. Dad passed 11 years ago, mom hates being the center of attraction, so my dad's only brother wil be walking me down the aisle.
