Are guest books really necessary?

Are guest books really necessary?

I'm debating if I even need one. At first I thought about doing the photo w/the signing mat. I don't know, I'm feeling like the whole guest book thing is just something else to spend $$ on, and then what do I do with it after the wedding?

Is anyone not doing anything like a guestbook?
Do people really even look for it?

I'm doing the sign in board because I dont need any more junk in my house!!! i know we would probably read through the guest book once, and never look @ it again. With the sign in board at least you can put a wedding pic in it & display it in your house.

Nope.. I NEVER sign them..I don't think I have even seen them at weddings to be honest with you.

The only reason I have obne is because my parents got it for me and were set on me having a guest book. I told them that many people don't even sign it anymore...but they got me one anyways...so we'll have one. I don't think they're really necessary though.

you definitely don't have to. I did the picture frame/mat thing and it looks really nice with all the writing on it. Eventually i'd like to hang it in my home office....whenever we buy a home!

We are not having a guest book. They are nice but for us it will be one more thing to store.

I am not having a guest book - I doubt anyone will look for it or miss it.

I printed and cut out 4x6 sized cards, so that my guest could write individual messages. Afterwards we put the cards into a 4x6 photo album. I haven't read all of them yet. DH and I will do it on our first anniversary.

NOPE - no one writes in them and the few who do doesn't make it worth having another book laying around.

We got a signature platter. I think it will make a cute display piece in the china closet. I am one of those cheesy people that likes to sign things like at camp when we used to sign each others shirts LOL.

nope, not necessary at all. we had one because i really wanted to make one (had an idea in my head) -- the messages in it are nice (a lot of people did sign it) but it was more of an 'i want to put out this pretty thing on the table' -- we now have it on our coffee table in our apt. i plan to glue in some of our cards, maybe some other items from the wedding, and some photos. more of a 'wedding scrapbook with a pretty cover'

definitely not necessary at all though

We skipped the guest book, totally not necessary IMHO.

I had a sign-in board at my Bat Mitzvah, I think its stored in my parent's basement somewhere
