Are my parents wrong or right? (kinda long)

Are my parents wrong or right? (kinda long)

My parents are getting a videographer, but FI parents don't want to pay for one. They have never used one before at their weddings and they think its a waste of money. So my parents said they would pay for it - then they told me that even though they get 3 copies my in-laws will not be allowed a to have a copy since they didnt pay for it. They just seems really rude to me. My in-laws are paying for the photos and my parents get copies.

It just doesn't make sense to me, esp. since my parents told them they wanted to pay for everything - but they still offered to cover the cost of florists and photos.

So annoying...

JMO - But I think thats kind of immiture of your parents... like you said they are not paying for pictures but still getting copies. Besides its not like they are paying extra for the 3rd copy since most places give you the 2 parent ones.

Hopefully once the heat of the moment dies down your parents will consent to giving them a copy. If not maybe you and your FI can pay for an extra copy from the videographer and just give it to your inlaws.

Oh geez, for real?

I don't know if it's right or wrong, since technically they are paying for it, it's theirs.

However, it would be gracious and generous if they would give FI's parents a copy. Does sound a bit immature.

What the heck are they going to do with three?

I think they should share, and not worry about what your FILs are paying for. It's not worth causing possible friction for you and your FH.

Besides, it's easy to make more copies, if they have other people that they want to give it to.

P.S. I love your aviator. It's really cool.

No offense, but I think your parents wrong. They are getting an extra video but don't want to give it to them out of spite?

I personally believe that anything done out of spite is wrong- and this is putting you and your FH in an awkward position before you even marry!

Tell your parents you understand that they are upset that they are paying for it and FH's parents aren't, but in the interest of your future marriage, and making a good gesture- if they would give the 3rd copy to his parents. It will be a good way to start off your new family.

I think that since your fi's parents are paying for photos and giving some to your parents, it would only be fair for your parents to give them a video.

But, if they refuse, why don't you see if you can pay for one and give it to your in-laws?

i don't think it's a matter of right or wrong, i just think it can be conceived as a little rude. worse comes to worse, i would offer to pay for the extra copy for your FIL's. if they are nice enough to give your parents copies of the photos, i think the favor should be returned (even if it 'technically' doesn't come from them)...JMO...

i think it is wrong of your parents to not give them a copy...Especially since your parents are getting copies of the pictures.

if it's included then i think it's just spiteful not to give them a copy. do they have someone else in mind that they want to give it to? it's not like his parents are paying extra for your parents photographs. they are included in the package. however, his parents could turn around and decide to give your parents photos to someone else, a grandparent or something.

I think that no matter who pays for what, parents always get copies (pictures and video). JMO.

Like the others have said, it sounds like your parents are being spiteful and maybe a bit immature. Yes, they technically have the right to give the videos to whomever they choose, but it sounds like their decision not to give one to your in-laws is based more on spite than on any valid reasoning.

Thanks girls! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. Unfortunately, they are always like this when it comes to the FILs. I dont know why...but whatever.

Sounds rude to me, but if it means that much to your parents, just make a copy of your video and give it to your FIL's

Wow, I think your in-laws are entitled to a copy if they want one. Do they get along or are your parents doing this out of spite since they do not want to pay for the videographer??

I don't think they are being fair. Your FH's parents are paying for flowers and photo and they are going to give your parents their pictures as well as flowers at the wedding. I think maybe you should talk to them.

Okay, I have to oppose what everyone is saying.

I think if your FIL's think it's a waste, and they've said this and outright refused to pay for, specifically because they think it sucks, then they don't need a video. if it were just that your parents were paying for a videographer and FIL's were paying for photos cause that's how it broke down, I'd say of course give them a copy, but since they refused when asked and said it's stupid, I mean, why would they want something that's stupid?
