we're giving each set of parents a DVD and an album of our wedding
my parents paid for our photog and florist, but i dont think they want me to spend money to give it back to them?
maybe i'm being cheap or maybe i just don't understand the point? can someone explain to me why they are giving parent gifts?
i'd love to give them something great but we're paying for most of our wedding on our own and budget is tight since we bought the house

I personally feel that the gifts are a token of gratitude and appreciation.
If your parents are paying for the wedding, or parts of the wedding, it is, IMO, a must.
If you are paying for everything, in its entirety, yourselves, then something small, like frames, or parent albums, are ok.

i had asked my cousin aout this an dshe said this is a new thing that just started the last couple of years so maybe after you have the wedding you should buy something

We paid for the full wedding, but we ended up buying the day of wear for the parents - so suits for the dads and dresses for the moms. It was a small way for us to be able to thank them for everything they've done for us and their support.

We are paying for most of our wedding but my parents helped as much as they can and my FH parents are paying for the flowers. We are giving them all a DVD and an photo album that they can pick the pictures. I wish i could give them something more but it really doesn't fit into our budget. I also don't think our parents would want us to spend extra money on them.

we are not getting our parents anything, but then again tneither set of parents paid for any of the wedding,. we are doing it all on our own. if they were going to pay for the wedding then i would have got them something...
