ok so... dhs best friend is getting engaged soon- the ring is on order. when he and his GF went to pick it out, they were choosing between a 3/4 carrot and a 1 carrot center stone. she liked the 3/4 better ( its all about whats more comfortable on your hand). so, he works in the finance department of a big company, and his boss is a woman and there are lots of women in his office... he told them about it, and they all said ' get her the bigger one! what are you gonna do when you move up in the company and go to a business function and your wife has a TINY diamond??' like should that even matter?? if shes more comfortable in the smaller one... shes the one that has to wear it for the rest of her life! fnny thing is, he listened to them and ordered it with the bigger diamond... we'll see what happens

Some people just need to mind their own business. If they chose together and chose the smaller stone thats their business.
Couldn't have said it better.
When will people 'get' that 'to each, his own.' We are all different people and should be allowed to do what we please without having to think about these nuisances???

I totally agree. I always told people that I didn't care whether FH proposed with a 12 carat diamond or a twisty tie, all I wanted was to know that he wanted me forever and no one else. People need to stop being so materialistic and remember that love isn't measured in carats.

yes they are!
I didnt pick out my ring but i always hinted ( hey i had EIGHT years to hint .. . ) that i didnt want any side stones just a center stone - didnt care of the size as long as it was a princess cut. . . .
well, FH went with my cousin's husband who got my cousin a HUMONGOUS GORGEOUS ring. . . so btw my cousin in law and the jeweler he felt like he HAD to get a ring with side stones - he even called his mom from the place and asked her what she thought and she said to get the ring that I wanted not what they wanted. . . well he didnt listen to his mom he listened to the guys and he got me sidestones
i am NOT complaining about my ring i absolutely love it and i wouldnt trade it for hte world bc HE picked it out with LOVE for me . . . but until i talked to his mom and heard about his phone call i wondered if he listened to me at all when i talked about what kind of ring i wanted
teh funny thing about all of this is that my cousin had wanted no side stones either, lol, we always joke when we see the rings we 'wanted' . . . vs the rings we got!
