do you realy need them, or is it one more thing to do. My tables are going to be really busy as is with the centerpiece and favors i dont want to take away from that and i hate cluttered tables. SO if i dont do them is it an inconvenience
Thanks in advance for your opinions Vanessa

I'm not doing them. I have enough to do and pay for without adding these.

I don;t think they're neccesary, but they're definitely a nice touch. I don't think its obtrusive if it's on the butter plate...it's elegant and it gets mouths watering

Re: Are table menus necessary Opinions please
I only went to wedding that had them- the hall provided them I think. I really liked the idea, but I am running out of time & they may be the first thing to go.

I don't think they are necessary. I wanted to do them, but ran out of time. But with everything on the table that day, flowers, favors, candles, food, drinks, they probably wouldn't have even been seen. The waiter telling everyone what their choices were was good enough for me!!!

Re: Are table menus necessary Opinions please
I had every intention of doing table menus and programs , but I have ZERO time left (without killing myself, that is) so those two things were the first to go.
I think table menus are a LOVELY touch though (I love all the little details myself) so I really wished I'd gotten off my arse and on the ball sooner .. but yet I don't truly believe that anyone will be like this if they aren't at my wedding , either

I'm not doing them, just like I'm not doing programs for the church. IMO, I think it's a waste of time, $$, and energy, and at this point, I just can't be bothered.

I'm not even sure if my hall provides menus, or not. If they do, I'll obviously use them, but otherwise probably not. They kind of seem like a waste...

Re: Are table menus necessary Opinions please
I agree that they are not necessary but they are a nice touch. DH wanted them because 80% of his guests were Spanish speakers with English as a second language. So he thought it would be easier for them to read the choices than have to try and listen to the waitstaff over the noise of the reception so we had them.
Mine were pretty inexpensive. I bought paper from Staples. I think it was scrapbook paper in cream color, to match our table linens. Cut it in half lengthwise, then typed the menu in word in a maroon color and printed them (It took a few practice runs of colors that worked with the paper and the leaf stamps). We were getting married in the fall so I found leaf stamps at Staples and bought gold and copper ink pads. I then stamped a border of leaves around the menu. They came out really nice and didn't take a lot of time or money. I tried to find a picture but had no luck, if I do I will post it.

Re: Are table menus necessary Opinions please
Hi Vanessa I was having the same concern about crowding the tables, but there are a few options. You can have on 8x10 framed menu per table, or you have have a smaller (typically 4x7) rolled menu or I'm having individual menus per place setting laid between the salad plate and the rolled up napkin. I think that it is a nice and personal option (especially for the indecisive people and older guests who will not be able to hear well because of the music.) I know your getting close to your wedding and ordering them might be too late (or they might charge you more to expedite them) but usually they run from 1-2.50 per menu. I went to Michael's which is having a huge sale and I am making them myself. I bought card stock that is usually .79 per sheet and they were 70% off. I made up the template the other night and I am just waiting to print them out.
If you have any other question, let me know.

Re: Are table menus necessary Opinions please
No. they aren't necessary. I didn't want to add the clutter to the table. PLUS- my family is really annoying and If we gave them 'advanced warning' of what the menu was- meaning, b/f the waiter came around and told everyone- they probaby would have tried to be annoying & change things- switch side dishes since they were all different, etc. etc. Plus- that's what the waiter is there for- to explain to everyone what the dishes are

Not necessary. My hall had them on the table. It was nice, but certainly not a requirement.

Re: Are table menus necessary Opinions please
We are definetly doing menus... i dont' think they are necessary at all, but I also think that it is all the little details that really make the wedding, you know?
The question is, do we do them for each place or one for the table?
so, individual place ones? or a single on for the table? what does everyone think?

Re: Are table menus necessary Opinions please
I agree, menus are not necessary, but they are a 'special touch' as well as convenient, especially if people are choosing between three entrees. If the waiter has to tell the table their choices and the music is loud and people can't hear, it can become a pain. For those who want to do them quickly and cheaply...I had mine done in three days by Inskpun (www.inkspun.com). Bill there is great and they were done really quickly...check the web site out.
