Are there any Christian Brides out there???

Long story short.. I may need to find another church.. I'm Christian (Baptist) and FH is Catholic. We picked St. Thomas the Apostle and now I may need to find another church as they are now telling me that my date is tentative.. due to them not having 'needed paperwork' and I've already had my invitations printed with the ceremony loc. being st. thomas. I'm thinking maybe I should get married in a Christian church.. maybe they won't hassle me as much? I don't belong to a particular church.... so some advice will be greatly appreciated

What is the problem and who are you dealing with at St. Thomas? (FM me if you prefer - I grew up in that parish and my parents have been active there for over 35 years)

I assume they are looking for proof of your FI's sacraments?? (That's the only paperwork they need to marry you in the Catholic church -- since it's only a sacrament for your FH) Or is it other paperwork you need to provide to them?

I'd call and ask to speak directly with the priest to find out what's going on. If that doesn't work, talk to Msgr. Lisante and explain what is going on and what steps you can take to totally secure the date. They tend to be very reasonable people there -- I can't imagine that they won't work with you if there is a way to get them whatever it is they need.

HTH. FM me if you think I can help more.

ETA - If you want to speak to Msgr. Lisante, call the rectory and ask to speak to his personal assistant... All appts / messages get left with his assistant for some reason...

Re: Are there any Christian Brides out there???

the only paperwork i would think that is causing a delay is the dispensation form needed for FH...the priest should have addressed this with you when you met initially... it's not a big deal, but it does need to be filled out and processed. it is required paperwork when a Catholic marries a non-catholic. Your FH also has to submit his bpatismal certificate... he has to call and request it from the parish he was baptized in if it's not St. Thomas. this all shouldnt' be a big deal. you also both need to complete Pre-cana. they will not marry you until that is completed. i would call and explain the situation and see what it is specifically that is causing it to be 'tentative'. dont' give up just yet!

Thanks for your support and kind words... I'll see if I can somehow work this out.

that's such a pity that the invites were already printed. My initial impulse would be to do everything in my power to get the paperwork cleared up so you don't need new invites.....

I hope everything works out for you....

(ps- you're getting married on my B'day!
