we selected a DJ knowing bands are more $$$... so I'm totally ignorant with the pricing...

but holy !@#$@#$, bands cost THAT MUCH! That's as much as photography

i tried to find one and did not succeed. we chose code bleu from skyline orchestras and their price is reasonable for a band on long island but not even close to $4000. i hear in other parts of the country bands are in the $2-$3k range but unfortunately not in our area. i think you can prob find something in the $4-$5k range thats pretty good though - try searching old posts on here im sure you will get some great suggestions. HTH

There are bands that can eliminate members, and will customize the band to your budget. After Hours Orchestra and Majic both do this (I think). Live Wire quoted us a few hundred dollars more tha your budget, and they were the least expensive full band we saw.

We're using Highroad & they're around $4000 for 4 hours (4 pieces + 2 horns + 1 hr. DJ). They're a cover band from Hoboken, NJ and we discovered them @ a bar in NYC. They play a mix of 70's, 80's, and current music and are amazing! Because they are not strictly themselves a wedding band, they are much more affordable! We used good clean fun.... they were AWESOME! people are still raving about them... we paid less than that and i know his pricing his flexible based on number of pieces, etc.

I looove my band Soul Revival , we saw them at a friends' wedding and thought they were awesome, they had so much energy. They were very reasonably priced, and willing to work within our budget. Their website is

Sound Chaser is around $3,000 for (I think) an 8-piece band.

Our band (Platinum ) is reasonable, but definitely over $4,000. I'll FM you more info.
