I'm having trouble finding a 'cheap' alterntative for people that dont' want to spend $160. I would even settle for a 100. room, but every place I find is so ghetto-and I don't want them to think that I recommended it thinking the place was nice!

No unfotunately LI is expensive especially in Nassau.
I have blocked rooms at three places for between 124 - 170. (Wingate Inn, LI Mariott, and the Garden City Hotel)
I think we got great rates - they are less than what we found online - and if someone finds it for less then that is wonderful

I don't know where you need it but the Red Roof Inn in Westbury is new and was about $106 per night.

I was quoted $149 at the Wyndham (in June) and $139 at the Red Roof Inn.

Not sure what area you are looking into but I liked the Best Western Old Woobury Inn (near the Fox Hollow) which was very nice.. prices range with group discount (and those are next year prices)... $119 single room, $129 double room, $139 executive suite.. it's nice and it's clean.

Yippie! Thanks everyone for all the info!
Well, too bad about the expense side, but at least now I have some alternatives. I guess I closed out these hotels in my searches since they are just over 100, but you know what! At this point -they will have to deal!
Any more suggestions would be wonderful!!! Thank you!
Edited to clarify:
My options are at least $125+ and its Red Roof Inn, Wyngate, Best Western and I think that's it.
This is the place I did find, but I was a little leery, it has no website: BW Barharbor Inn

I have blocked rooms at three hotels and the cheapest one (I went and checked out the rooms and they are not ghetto surprisingly) is the Gateway Inn in Merrick on Sunrise highway I have the room reserved for I believe 84-89 depending on queen or double beds

I know it's not your area, but the Holiday Inn Express I saw at $95 and up, the Hampton Inn I saw at $159 and up, and the Hilton Garden Inn (all in Islandia or Ronkonkoma) was $149 and up...and these were all prices I got off the internet...so I'm sure they can be talked down. I also heard that the Wyndham WindWatch was $139 a night for someone else.

The Fairfield Inn in Syossett should be around that price to. Also try the Extended Stay in Melville and Bethpage. They should all be that rate or lower.......Good luck!

Re: Are there any hotels/motels less that 100. that are NOT ghetto?
Thanks again!!! So I called Wyndham and they quoted me 135. but I had to garuntee at least 10 rooms which I am not willing to do. The hotel seems really nice, but oh well.
Howard Johnson, out of curiosity, I called and they said $119. to which I wanted to reply -for a hotel that hasn''t been updated except for the main restaurant that turned into a chinese buffet in 1995???
Ok so goes my list. I am considering referring people to hotel.com and saying good luck!
OH and the bar harbor inn or whatever its called is in a bad area on sunrise hwy. There goes that option.

I booked blocks of rooms at Danford''s Inn for $135/night and The Holiday Inn Express in Nesconset/Stony Brook for $129.
My sister-in-law (who''s from NJ) was 'appalled' at these prices and I was like, well, do you want to stay at the Commack Motor Inn????

I bet the commack motor Inn isn''t even that cheap!!! That is of course, unless people only pay per hour!

If people are flying in, maybe look around LGA or JFK for more alternatives - a bit gar from Oheka, but at least it''s close to the airport. Not sure how they would get to the reception though.

Hampon inns are very nice at 119 for a group rate best westerns are 90. hampton inn shuttles you to and from the airport and reception if you have 10 rooms booked! not sure where you are.
