I think it depends on what you mean by decent? In the areas where the good schools are...I doubt it. But, you mind find a diamond in the ruff....but it will probably need a lot of work, thus adding to the cost. Sorry...that is not ver encouraging. Good luck

Thanks! Me and DH were looking at this same website last night. There were some in Nassau under the price we were looking but I was wondering if they would all need alot of work. I like that type that you posted. I'm on the lookout!

for the price...i think it will need a lot of work...but somethings can be done slowly...and don't forget - your first year - you could get crazy taxes back...and that could pay for a larger project...

I hate to be a wet blanket and dont want to say they dont exist but for a non-fixer upper in a good school district, I think you have to go higher. $325K was doable about 2 years ago. I knew 2 people who bought at those prices then.

Its ok I have to be realistic when we start to look. I'm new at this so I have no idea whats an average price. Thanks for the help!

i am in the same boat as you and the ones that are handyman specials run about $340,000-350,000 depending on area. its and if you put 20% thats almost $70,000 without closing costs... yikes!!!!! we only have about a 1/4 of that right now thanks to the wedding.
