We were going to do the little airport however with the gas prices and everything they did not offer any flights to the smaller airport

ok well then I'll have to look into the helicopter ride if that's not toooo much money, did anybody look into the price of that and where can I find it?

When we were there, another couple mentioned it being around $200. Not 100% sure though.

wow well I thought it would've been a lot more than that!

Hahaha. It's not that bad. I was just there, I get crazy car sick on Long Island but I was fine in all of our car rides.

The car that flipped was actually a Sandals driver - or at least that is what I heard from Sandals employees - unless they lied or perhaps misheard...but they do ask that you use their taxi services.

It is kinda scary at first, but you get used to it, that's just how they are down there. And St Lucia is such a safe country - I would def. recommend seeing as much of the island as you can. There are car accidents EVERYWHERE, it's gonna happen once in a while. And yes you drive on cliffs so it's worse than in other places - but don't be scared - its really ok.

We are going and taking the helicopter if another couples does it. Otherwise we have to pay for 4 people.

yeah we are prob going to do that.. they say if there are not 4 ppl you have to pay for the other two and you two.... We think it will be a great experience and something be both have never done..

only think your luggage goes in a car and not on the helicopter

I went to St. Lucia in Feb. and got extremely sick on my way to the Grande. We ended up taking the helicopter ride back to the airport. It was awesome and worth every penny. We also only left the resort to go deep sea fishing once and everybody on the boat got sick. They didn't tell us that waves were 6 ft. and nobody had caught anything in the past few days prior b/c it was so rough. They had to turn the boat around after an hour and a half b/c everybody was so sick.

Its definitely a down fall that the resort is so far away!

However we ventured out a lot and were ok...we went to both of the other resorts and to the zip line tour. I get car sick easily but the only time I was nautious was going from the resort back to the airport. We had the night nurse as our driver and woah...we were all gagging. Not fun.

I'm staying there in Feb. and just wanted to know how's the drive from the international airport to the Grande? Is it a bad drive on their shuttle too?

Its over an hour in a small van (their shuttle service). Take motion sickness pills if you have to. Not gonna sugar coat it--its awful!! Sorry. The roads are very windy (mountainous) and they drive like maniacs.[/QUOTEI agree...you cannot sugar coat it...the ride s*cks!

It is around $200-$250.00 for a 12 minute ride.

Another thing to be wary of.......St. Lucia has rainy weather that lasts for like an hour or two almost everyday. If you book excursions and it looks like the skies are going to open up, they still take you. The three couples we became friends with got screwed over and were out in the middle of the ocean riding huge waves in tiny boats because they still took them out. Another couple was out in the water, on a horse, in a tropical rain. Book the earliest morning excursions...that's when the weather is pretty much always OK. HTH

Hey Kristina!
Did you go there for your honeymoon? DH & I were there for part of ours. From the 14th to the 19th....then we went on a cruise from Miami.
I only met Sandy there.
