I ask because I got an invite for June 4th...yesterday. It had no address on the invite, no direction card, no registry card, just the invite...done by someone without a clue, it seems.
I called my FMIL to tell her I really don't want to go (it's her good friend's daughter), and she pretty much told me I had to!
I have a baby shower the night before, a birthday party the same day, and a double graduation the day after!!!!!!
Does this sound like a B-list invite?
Mind you, I never got an engagement card or gift from this girl, her parents sent one. And we went to a big party for their engagement last summer.
FMIL makes me feel like I have to go, and FI says I shouldn't...and I really don't want to, nor have the time!!
Help

I would never go to something because I feel obligated, unless it's close family I guess. Life's too short. Send a gift.

Did you have your shower yet? Could it be a fake invitation?

I haven't had my shower yet, but I'm sure it's not mine. Besides, this girl's wedding is July 17, so she needs to have a shower soon!!
But, who sends a shower invitation without the registry cards, no wishing well, no directions or an address of the place??!!!!
This is really bothering me
P.S. I spoke to my FSIL and she said her mom was just saying I should go because now I'm family and have obligations. Puullleeezzee!

Re: Are there B-lists for showers?
I know my shower is 6/4 but they took a long time to figure out where to have it and my invitations went out last week. (I have no idea where it is - just the date because we have 9 events in the next 3 weekends alone. Ack - we are over-booked. I don't think you are a b-list invitee for the shower. As for going or not, that is up to you.

she said she got it a few weeks ago, and FSIL said she got it last week, but they all got the info, registry cards, directions....

Re: Are there B-lists for showers?
Humm - then I think I have to change my answer. If everyone else got their invites earlier with all the other stuff and it looked like your invite was not mis-handled by the post office so nothing could fall out, then yes, I think they B listed you to the shower. IMHO that is not a cool thing to do. Sorry - I would not go. I am not sure if I would send a gift. I probably would send something but it would be smaller that I would have given if I actually attended. Lisa

Re: Are there B-lists for showers?
I am the odd one out here, but...I would just go. This is JMO, but to me it would not be worth it to not go- FMIL will be upset, and whatever else. IMO I would just go, give a gift, that's it. We have had many situations like this with fh's friends, and I just find it easier to do that.
Good luck though-

Re: Are there B-lists for showers?
People are that clueless! I got an invitation to a shower that was similar. There were no directions (or an adress for that matter), just the name of the restaurant. About where she's registered, thats something that you dont HAVE to put on an invite. It just makes life easier.
