I have to tell you, if I were you, I would rather have an afternoon wedding on a Sat or a wedding on Sunday thatn on Thursday.

Good luck

I'm a teacher, so time wise I would definitely be able to make a ceremony on Thursday night. But I have to say that I would definitely not party as hard or stay as late knowing I have to go to work the next day. But I feel the same way about Sunday's. JMHO!!

We were invited to a Thursday night wedding but didn't attend because I was traveling for work. They had a great turn out though!

I'm afraid I have to agree with the previous posters who said it would be inconvenient for your guests, and that you're better off scheduling for another off day and off time, and cutting your guest list.

honestly for some people it wouldnt be a problem...but for most it might be...i wouldnt want my special day that costs so much money to be a burden to go to..and trust me people will look at it like a burden unfortunetely.

Honestly, I would probably go but I would definetly complain about the inconvenience of it. I would not take a day off for Friday unless it was family or I was in the wedding and then I would only be thiking about having to wake up at 6am while I was supposed to be having fun at your wedding.

I think there are other ways to drop the cost of a wedding without having to go to those extremes

People who want to go will be there no matter what day you have your wedding. So family and close friends will be there no matter what the day. Acquaintances, however, may not go.

I fully agree. I had a Thursday wedding, and I don't regret it all. Every single friend and family member who is important to us was there. Of course, some of the family members we don't know very well who we invited just to be polite weren't there, but that didn't really matter to us anyway. And I found that it didn't really matter to the out-of-towners since they had to take time off work to travel either way. Of course everyone's family is different. I can definitely see how a wedding on a weeknight is difficult for many people to attend, but sending out STD cards far in advance helps.

Not trying to start drama, but I went to a Thurs wedding and would not recommend it.

I was at a table with some other friends, all of which had work/law school, etc. the next day, no one was really drinking/dancing/ totally able to enjoy themselves.

To be totally honest, and again, not to start drama, but I was a little resentful that this bride chose to inconvenience all the wedding guests with a thurs night wedding to save money, meanwhile, so many other things were over the top (I know her dress was 10k), she paid a few thousand to cover the ceiling in drapes, etc.

It's up to you what to do, the people who really care will be there no matter what, but you might loose some causual friends or people who no matter what, are unable to get away from work, etc.

I think that 'off' day weddings are becoming much more of an accepted wedding practice. Do what works best for you and FH!

I know Thur are cheaper but I think it is an inconvenience to many people. Most will want to take off Thur and Fri. At least Fri, most people are off Sat. I found a huge difference at a Sun. vs Sat wedding for the FH 2 brothers last year. People left early for the Sun. My sister and brother are a bit of a distance away so daytime was hard also. I found a place that did Sat eve. for an awesome price. That was my decision maker. I agree immediate family and close friends will come no matter what but it is a shame to pay so much money and have the guests leave early. Good luck

I have heard that Thursday nights are a popular night now to get married. This is only my opinion, but if you are having a lot of out of towners I think its kind of unfair to ask people to make it to a Thursday night wedding, knowing that they would have to take at least one work day , and maybe 2, off. But like others have said, people close to you will make it, no matter what night of the week it is.

Honestly, I don't like it. If I was in town, I would definitely go. If it was out of town, I'd only do it for very close family and friends.

If it was this year, I probably wouldn't go unless it was my sister's since I have no vacation saved up for my job and I need to save it for my own wedding!

Re: Are Thursday weddings popular?

I was going to go with a friday night in March thinking it is cheaper but, we got a great deal and all at my RH and we are doing a Thursday night in August. I'll be off from work then and since it works out that way most of my co-workers can come since they have off that day and the next. My family and his will be there and with the other people that dont have off I feel if they love you and respect you they will come. They might not make it to the ceremony or they might leave early but, they will make that effort.
In my opinon people go out on Thursday nights alot now a days so why not go to a wedding. I think it is better then going to a Sunday night wedding. Atleast if they take off on Friday theyhave a 3 day weekend.

I had my Wedding on a Thursday. We had a pretty good turn out. It actually kept people from coming that did not want to be there for the 'right' reasons.
Anyone that cares for you or loves you will attend regardless not make a stink and enjoy the wedding. Out of towners have to travel regardless so we found that is not a problem for them whichever day you have it.
The wedding needs to be about you and your FH. Not others freaking out telling you your being inconsiderate to them. REMEMBER this day is about YOU and if it is about the money or merely just your choice it is your right to make one.

Most important VIP Guest to show is your Hubby - and that is all that should matter

Oh ya also all of the Socialites are having 'THURSDAYS' as their wedding night is quite the in thing to do - just don't do it for that reason alone. Just a little FYI that I thought I would share.
