me and FH are taking pics before the ceremony. i really want to attend the cocktail hour and planned on doing so, until my dad said that i wasnt supposed to. is this true? will i be the only bride ever to attend her own cocktail hour? lol thanks!

We're not attending our cocktail hour. We will be doing our pictures and what not, but A LOT of brides do attend them ;) Do what you want to do......

Most of the weddings I have been to the bride and groom come in at the tail end of the cocktail hour.

i think the idea of skipping the cocktail hour is to have a 'big entrance' when the main shindig occurs. or so i've been told.

we were at our whole coctail hour...and i'm sooo glad! it gave us a chance to greet everybody and do the rounds, so that we could enjoy the reception doing what WE wanted to do ( dancing with our friends!) instead of going around to the tables.... PLUS, you're paying soooo much money for the hall- you might as well enjoy all the food there that you can! ETA: and we still had our ' big entrance' into the reception, too

We are attending our coctail hour. My FH loves food and does not want to miss out. I rather get most of the pictures over with anyway!

we will not be at our cocktail hour..we will be finishin up pictures i want to be announced in the beginning of reception...i have never been to a wedding where the bride and groom were at cocktail hour...but you do whatever you want

we were able to take pictures, eat in the bridal suite, GO TO THE COCKTAIL HOUR (something i REFUSED to miss-why miss out on part of the party? wanted to say hello to many people so that I didnt spend an hour of the reception doing it) and we still DID the BIG entrance! I loved it!

FH doesn't want to see me before the wedding so we have to take our pictures during the cocktail hour (our ceremony and reception are at the same place). Hopefully we'll get to attend the end of the cocktail hour.
I have been to weddings where the bride and groom do attend the cocktail hour. It's nice because they get to greet their guests during the cocktail hour and have more of the reception to themselves.

We actually got to our hall before the CH, even taking pics after the ceremony. I was so happy to just sit and eat because the the Bridal Attendants gave us whatever we wanted to eat and drink during the CH. This was the slow point and it really was the only time we weren't pulled in every direction for the day. We enjoyed it. However, we do wish we could have seen the CH room before it was torn down.
If we could do it all over again, we would have wanted to go to the last 5 minutes of the CH just to see it all. We heard it was spectacular.
