I am def not!! My sister's china is still in my moms attic-never used!

Definitely not. My sister's is in boxes in her basement. She may have used it a couple of times for a romatic dinner with my brother in law but thats about it. I dont have a dining room to display it and when we host holidays we combine and have FH's family & mine so I wouldn't have enough settings for over 20 people anyway.

Absolutely not.

When I moved out into my own apartment, my mother bought me two 8-person sets - one of everyday plate, one of nice heavy stoneware.

I wasn't planning on it but my cousin, who I will admit is very opinionated, says that this is the only time I will ever be able to. She regrets registering for every stupid kitchen gadget she could ultimately afford to buy for herself but not beautiful dishes. Now I'm torn.

Since FH and I live together already there isn't going to be a million kitchen electrics, etc on our registry. I think we'll ask for china as long as I don't find other things that we really need instead. My FSIL has been married for 2 years and I know her china is still in her closet in boxes.

I've browsed the china at BBB and Macy's before. I didn't like any of it. If I don't like any I'm not going to just pick one out for the hell of it.

we registered for it because :

1) when else would we ever get it (my mom ended up getting more late in life and they would exchange as christmas presents and it took forever i dont think she has all still)

2) we didnt have a lot to register for because we already own a home & have stuff

3) we are going to want it and have space for it eventually !

4) its a perfect price point for most people coming to a shower (with the 20% off coupon)

I am not registering for it. I have at least 2 sets of fine china that will eventually be passed down in my family and might come my way. Also, FH and I don't really see ourselves using it ever. We do like to entertain but even on holiday's we don't have many family traditions where we will be serving at our home in a formal setting.

I def am. I LOVE to use fancy china for all the holidays, romantic dinners, and every excuse I can come up with. I also plan on displaying it in a china cabinet eventually. I totally got that from my mom tho. She has 3 sets!!!

i registered for it because i love to entertain and especially for holidays when we have our own home, i'd like to have a classy set of plates and cups and glasses that go together...plus it's sort of an investment...my mother has china from years ago that it probably worth more now then it was then...

Re: Are you...

if you did register for china...which sets?

i registered for lenox opal innocence because it's a classic set thats been around a long time so I can add or replace pieces if need be...

i am also registering for nice plates (not really china, but not cheap either) from a place in greenport called the doof pot...they import all italian ceramics plates, platters, table tops, spoon rests, etc etc etc etc from italy...

This!!! I will definitely even though my fiance already lives in our co-op (I'll be moving in after the wedding). We have most things but I look at this way, we will one day own a home (godwilling) and I only get to have a bridal shower once. Since fine china can get expensive, I rather have people buy it for us.

not at all!

Re: Are you...

We most likely will not. We have, and probably will always have, a small NYC apartment life and not ever do much entertaining at home. We don't ever cook at home now and I don't think that will change. All our family meals happen out on LI with FH family or with my family out of town.
I love fine china tho, so if our lives were different, I would defintely register for it.
I agree it is really the only chance in life to get your pieces and it really will mean something to you in later years. Even if you don't use it that much, it will still be nice to have. LOL I'm completely contradicting myself! Hmmm... maybe I want china after all!

I think we will because even though we dont have a house now when we do I would like to entertain.

My family uses paper plates on holidays so no one has to do the dishes at my nanas lol. i will not be registering for it. I don't have the room and I dont think it will ever be used.

Yes, def. But I loveeeeeeeeee to entertain! I can't wait tomove out of our one bedroom so I can finally have people over for dinner parties and what not. I registered for a set that isnt too formal either and is dishwasher/micro safe. Very simple but elegant.
