We are but we're not spending a fortune. He wants $$ to get more of his sleeve worked on and I just was a gift certificate to get a massage. We have too much going on to go crazy like we have before.

Since we both kind of buy what we need as the days pass, and there is nothing we desperatly need or want seperatly, i think we are just going to get a new laptop. Something we both can enjoy.

This year me and FH cut out birthdays and Xmas, our birthdays are a month apart his sept and mine oct and then with xmas right before the wedding we just couldn't do it. We still have exchanging gifts with FH's family

me and fh are because he refuses to not give each other gifts but me and my family are not, my mom is so adamant about it she says we have enough to pay for, so mommy has the last word

My parents are totally fine with getting nothing or something very small. FIL's on the other hand......... FMIL actually YELLED at FH when he only spent $30 on his sister's birthday gift...... I wanted to punch her. She made a comment about how cheap we were and how FH and I shouldn't give joint gifts!!!! I was aghast. They don't understand the concept of saving for a wedding and a house... I can't even express it in words, ugh!!
ETA: FH and I don't exchange gifts to each other anymore. We just go out to dinner for the occassion which is special because we never go out.

I think we're going to forgo gifts this year. I'll be getting gifts for my sister/brother and probably our flower girls (since they're all kids) and then I'll just beg everyone else not to buy me anything. LOL.

We're definitely going to cut back on what we spend on everyone else, and I don't think we're going to exchange with friends this year. Our friends and us have made an agreement that instead of exchanging gifts, we'll all just do one nice night out together.
As for FH and I, I think I might propose to him that we just buy our wedding bands and call it a day.

We are buying gifts same as usual...Christmas is a huuuuge giving holiday in FH's family (they don't make a big deal about birthdays...it p isses me off because birthdays are way more important!!)...probably FH will cut down a little because Christmas is 5 days before my birthday...either way we're spending dough because FSD's birthday is the beginning of the month.
I'm thinking we aren't going to buy FIL's big gifts this year because we're spending the money to fly us to Ohio...which is a pretty big gift in and of itself.

FH keeps asking me what I want for Christmas but I keep telling him not to get me anything. We may just go out to instead of buying each other expensive gifts.

im cutting everyone out!!! i already talked to my family about this.
the soon to be in laws are such a pain about this!!! its sooooooo important to them but i dont give a fcuk. keep in mind they exchange lists. imo thats not fun.

Not sure...I told FH that we really can't afford to bc of the wedding and buying a house. He still wants to exchange something small though...which I am ok with. I already told my family that I can't afford to this year (and I asked them any money they would spend on me to put towards the wedding.....Mom does a Christmas club at her bank for XMas $- so she has money put aside every year...) not sure what FH will say to FILs - they really aren't the giving type, so it might be a moot point...
