We've actually had a joint account for a while..I'm in school and work a crappy job as a receptionist, so he's been helping me.. i put in what I can, and pay my car payment!!!! THANK GOD FOR FH

def. a joint account... this way all the money is both of ours to use and share... I think it's the simplest way...

We've had a joint account for about 3 years now- pretty much within a year or so of living together- and way before we got engaged. Its much easier for me- not having to balance to different accounts.

We're joining all of the money and then I get conrtol of it so i can pay all of the bills

We had a joint account for few years now, even before we got engaged.

i think we're going to direct deposit our money into one account and then take what we need when we need it.

yep. Pull all we make into one account and take out as needed.

Communication is needed. In the beggining he or I ended overdrawing, because one of us forgot what the $$ went for. Now we are very careful and more attentive.

we've decided already that i am designated as the money person....so it will all go through me! we'll see how well that works. i have high hopes!

We will keep separate accounts for separate expenses (car, credit cards, etc.). He gives me $ for joint expenses (rent, etc.). It's just easier right now.

Me too!
We opened a joint account right after getting engaged. We deposit the same amount into this account each month (about 60% of our salaries!) and then we keep the rest in individual accounts where we pay our own bills like cell phones and car insurance and shopping sprees!

I have control over all the money. He has his own checking account so he can pay child support separately from our household...but I write the checks...he just signs them. Everything else is in my name only for other reasons.

We have both separate and joint accounts. We opened a joint one as soon as we decided to move in together two years ago. It works out well because we can both write checks from the same account and not have to be hassled with giving the other one money to pay a bill or something. It was really important to us that we learn to deal financially as a couple early on becuase we've seen both sets of our parents struggle so much with it.

Right now we have separate accounts and one account just for wedding money. After we are married, we will have joint accounts but I will balancing the checkbook.
