Are you asking the Godparents to be the Godparents before or after the baby is born??
Frankie says in his family it's done after the baby is born. All my friends asked their friends to be Godparents before the baby was born?

We already asked the Godparents to be Godparents...probably a month or so ago, so again, I'm voting with you

We're not sure yet....DH wants my sister to be godmother, but we are baptising it, and she is Jewish and I'm not sure if that would work

Shana we are in the same situation since my Mom is Jewish and my Dad is Catholic, I wanted to ask my brother and Frankie's sister. I think with some churches as long as one of the Godparents has made their sacraments it is ok. We are also thinking about raising our child in the Unitarian church too so we will be looking into that also.

My DH and I have 3 God Children, in all cases we were asked after teh baby was born!
But I think either way is perfectly fine!

I asked both before the baby was born. It was nice for them to watch the pregnancy knowing that the baby was their godchild.

We asked after Andrew was born. It was obvious though who they were going to be, so it didn't really come as a surprise.

We asked before she was born but it ended up burning us where it hurt because a fallout ensued w/my brother before she was actually Christened and I felt like the next family member I asked felt 2nd best or something.
