My friend was telling me that you usually buy a really nice gift for your groom to open the morning of the wedding....and he gives you a gift to open the morning of the wedding. Are you doing that?

We probably aren't going to either. We just can't afford it. He gave me a beautiful e-ring and I went out and bought him one. That was last year. This year, we aren't sure how we are doing Christmas and our birthdays much less a wedding gift!

Mine wants golf clubs and initially I was for it (even though I can't think of anything I want, so why waste $$ if there isn't something I REALLY want). I think it will depend on how the budgeting goes ...

I bought my DH a hankie to have in his pocket, because I knew he would be very emotional the day of the wedding, and cuff links to match his wedding band. I also had a Hummer truck pick him up from the Hotel to bring him to the hall. That was free though!! My best friend worked it out for me from where she works.
He bought me a diamond heart pendant that he gave me after the wedding and also monogrammed towels. I thought the towels was such a different and thoughtful gift!!

As I know many of you are, FH and I are paying for our own wedding 100% and really can not afford to do wedding gifts.... But we did treat each other to a very nice new digital camera to take to Italy with us....It's our gift to ourselves....

I am buying FH a new upgraded Rolex. I don't know if he is buying me anything. He bought me my engagement ring and I think that is more than enough. He may come through and surprise me though, he's been known to do that...

We did not do this. We paid for most of the wedding ourselves. We also just redecorated the apt we live in (I used to have a roommate) we bought a big wide screen, new couches, new bedroom and we just didn't think it was worth it.
On the day of the wedding, he sent me a dozen roses and I sent him a Vermont teddy Bear in a tux with a bottle of blackhaus (he was allowed to do ONE shot before the cermony to ease himself) it worked wonders

I will be buyging him a video camra.
We don't have one and I really would like to tape our honey moon! Plus, he really likes the techy stuff.. so it'll work out great.
I was also thinking about giving him a 'key to my heart' keychain so that he will have something that will last for ever (incase camra will break).

we havent talked about it yet. were paying for the wedding ourselves too but it would be nice to get him a little something.. i was thinking of writing him a letter and getting him giants tix for next year or something like that!

We aren't doing gifts. We decided that the money we are spending on the wedding, plus the honeymoon, was enough of a gift to each other!

it's all up to you guys... after he proposed, i bought him a tag heuer watch that he had his eyes on for a while. then as the wedding approached, he bought me a set of diamond earrings and i bought him cufflinks, a belt,and some socks to wear the day of. it doesn't have to be tit for tat.. whatever you both are comfortable with

but i did buy him a new computer when we got engaged as his engagement gift.....
maybe i'll get him a PS2 for the wedding......

TogetherForever, it seems all the gifts I buy for him end up being oh so useful to me as well! Like his surround sound home theatre, stereo, playstation 2, haha! So a gigantic TV would just fit right in with the tradition of giving him the things that I want too

i must say...... i like the girls ideas who are getting a joint video camera, or a joint digital camera.....
one year me and fh' got a joint video camera(before we were engaged)... and we are getting great use taping family parties and hockey games
