Ok, so I didn't change my last name on my marriage license 'cus I got last minute jitters when they asked...
Is it too late to change it now? Is it alot of trouble? Ugh, I don't even know if I want to change 'cus I'm ethnically different from DH so people are gonna look at me funny when I say my last name is X Smith. :(

i have been thinking about this i want to keep my last name the way it is...i dont really like FH last name i know that sounds horrible ..but when i mentioned it to FH he got upset ....his last name is such a common one though thats why i want to keep my name so we will see what happens

Give your county clerk a call and see what they say. I dont' know what the process is to change it after it's already been done up .....

My last name is way too long to hyphenate with his. I'm taking his. And very excited that my last name will be pronouncible!

ok so the reason i still am debating about changing my name is an asian friend of mine who married an Irish fellow told me this...
apparently, whenever she travels and goes through airports she gets alot of question about why her last name is different from her son. Her son also looks Irish so that didn't help matters!
I'm Asian and DH is English/German descent so since I also love traveling overseas, I'm afraid we're gonna go through the same ... :(

i cannot WAIT to take his last name... we have to wear nameplates at work (of our last name) and he ordered a new one for me today, so it will be ready by the time i go back to work!! woo-hoo!!

I most likely am going to change my name. Although I feel like I would be disconnected from my family in a way and sort of sad that I am not using my maiden name (sounds weird, I know), I am 98% sure I will be changing it. I think FH would think it is weird if I did not want to change it and from what I hear when you hyphenate, it is a pain in the butt when people have to write envelopes out to the person.

I'm normally very modern and liberal, but there's something sweet, I think, about a husband and wife having the same last name. I also like that I'll have the same last name as our children. I totally understand why someone wouldn't change her name, but for me, it's 100% what I want to do.

We've been married for a year(eloped)and I still havent changed it. First of all Im too lazy to stand on the lines and dont have much time, Second not too many people in the family know we eloped , Third I was married before when I was younger and it was a **tch to change it all back so not that Im planning on this not working out but I too have some jitters, Also my dad died before DH and I met and my last name kinda makes me still feel close to him(silly I know but it does) and most of all I've deceided to wait until after the big wedding and it's official to everyone. So your not alone

No, I am keeping my last name as FH's ex-wife kept his last name and we will have the same initials. She was originally going back to her maiden name but it seems once she found out we were engaged she changed her mind.

Yup, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'm 100% Irish, and my FH is Irish, Italian, German, and something else... He's got red hair and fair skin -- and a FIVE syllable VERY Italian last name. People will look at both of us funny when they put the last name with the faces... but I'm SO looking forward to having the same last name and being his Mrs.! (And PS the red hair comes from the Italian side of the family!)
