Yes... I will be keeping my last name as a middle name and then his last name!

Still deciding, but most likely hyphenating it

Yes, but I am so sad b/c my son wont have my name It really does hurt. So its been a hard decision. I'm just keeping hope that one day my ex will let my son be adopted since he hasnt seen him in almost 4 years!

Still struggling with this one. I'm definitely not dropping my last name, will add his on legally, but not sure when/if I'll use it. Oddly, he's known this all along and only this past weekend threw a little fit about it as if this was new to him Such a personal decision.... Wish men just had to change their names

I'm def changing my name. I'm really not all that attached to my last name. It doesn't really make a difference to me.

Absolutely! I HATE my last name - it's 3 letters and people cannot pronounce it...Fortunately the FI has a FAB last name (Viola!)

I wouldn't exactly say I can't wait- I feel kind of strange about it. I have had the same name for 27 years (will be 28 then) and now all of a sudden have to give it up. His last name is certainly a lot eaiser to say than mine, my whole life my last name has been mispronounced, his never is... But still its almost like losing part of my identity. Maybe I will add it as a middle name like some other girls are doing. I asked my mom if she felt wierd about changing her name when she got married, and she said she couldn't wait to do it.

i'm not changing mine... not that i'm against the idea of changing it or anything... his last just sounds horrible with my first name... there are too many 's''s and 'L''s when you say the two together...
he is sort of upset about and is worried abotu when we have kids people not thinking we're married or whatever... but then again, he won't have to go through life with a name that makes you sound like you have marbles in your mouth luckliy he isn't pushing me too much, so thats good Can't wait to tell his parents though... LOL... they are pretty old fashioned like that... and his dad can be an a** so i know he'll have a comment... oh well

I plan on doing this as well as I hate hyphens- they complicate things IMO.

You can actually only hyphenate to make it legal right after you get married. In order to use your maiden name as your middle name legally(in addition to or instead of the middle name you already have), you have go to a county or supreme court (or civil court in NYC) to make the change.

So If I am now:
Jane Mary Doe and FH is John Smith

I could first become
Jane Mary Smith or Jane Mary Doe-Smith

After court I become:
Jane Mary Doe Smith

It sounds complicated

I am adding his last name to mine w/o a hyphen and keepin gmy middle name. I will be Jean Marie Maiden name Married name. Then I can use either or both. Doing this for both personal and professional reasons.

Yes... Can't say I 'can't wait', but I'll be changing it.

I'm taking his name. Funny enough, I don't know how we got on the topic but it's actually something he brought up on our very 1st date!

Same here! I don't have a middle name right now so it works out well.

Are the girls at work not taking it at all or just not changing it at work--b/c I know alot of women keep their last name at work & change it for everything else.

I honestly can't wait. I've been looking forward to being Mrs. B for a long time :) And i don't have a strong attachment to my name so I guess that helps! I know FH would be devestated if I didn't take his name, it means a lot to him.
