Re: Are you doing...
We are doing flowers. Our reception is during the day in a room with a lot of windows, so candles would be a waste. My friend used candles for her centerpieces, and they looked beautiful. I don't think anyone noticed she did not have flowers or thought it looked cheap. She saved a ton of money doing it this way.

Re: Are you doing...
first of all, let's STOP with this whole CHEAP thing!!!!
ahhh ok. I am actually doing both candle and flower cps. I am having mint julep cups filled with flowers and then having a 3 pillar candelabra in the center with flowers wrapped around the iron.
anything can look beautiful if you do it right. we brides should not be saying that any idea is dumb or look is cheap....do what you think looks best and is what you can/want to spend.
sorry for the above, but the cheap topic upsets me! much love to all
when is that mojito coming!!!!

I am doing both. I have seen so many candle cps that are so elegant and in no way cheap.

Re: Are you doing...
Here are some lovely examples of the candle and flowers centerpieces. yes they can be easier on the wallet, depend on the what you use put the candle in. But that doesn't make them any less beautiful. And have you looked at some of the bridal stuff they try to sell in bridal store? Very cheap junk, that they over charge you!
If you want some better ideas do what I did and go to goggle and look of center pieces under pictures. you'll find both pictures and the website they came from that way.
I am doing a combo - I have high centerpieces that have voties swirling around then I am doing more voties and pillars on the table

Stupid remark from peanut gallery:
- Don't candles melt all over the place? That was my fear or getting them
- Don't they also emit heat?
Those are what I was concerned with, otherwise if they are both false...I'm adding ribbon candles to my floral CP's.

Re: Are you doing...
I'm doing candles and I certainly don't consider them to be cheap!! I just like candles and I'd like to incorporate them into our wedding, I think they'll make for a very romantic atmosphere. The 1st pic is what I'm looking to do and the 2nd pic is another idea I got from LIW.

Thats why you put them in water, and you use tea candles. Also make sure you have extras incase they burn out.

Re: Are you doing...
The candelabra are included with the hall- so I am just going to throw some flowers down around them on all of the tables maybe a little bit more on our table

Re: Are you doing...
We havent booked a florist but I am looking to do something like this:
We havent gotten to centerpiece yet but i really want candles - i love the romance of candles and flower petals and have column candles all over my place - also it doesnt hurt our wallet so much which is another reason i love it!! but i have to talk to the catering hall first to see what i can do.
