Are you doing a receiving line?

Are you doing a receiving line?

Do you do this in the entrance of the cocktail hour area?

It can't be before the ceremony bc it would be anti-climatic to see the bride. I also doubt it would be at the reception.

Is your bridal party standing in the receiving line?

Re: Are you doing a receiving line?

even though I am having a full Mass at Church, there is just NO time for one... i want to get to my cocktail hour if at all possible and not be stressed and have time for some nice pictures. i will greet everyone at the reception. i will be announing that due to time constraints we can't have the receiving line.... otherwise, i think some people will think it rude not to have one.

Nope, we decided that we will be saying hello to everyone at the CH and the reception. And we arent seeing e/o before hand so we would like a little bit of time to ourselves afterwards to take it all in

I don't think I have enough time for one but my parents are making me. I am not having the bridal party there. I think just me, FH and our parents.

Yes we are one after mass at the church.

I don't think I will be doing it due to time contraints. We would prefer to save the extra time for pictures and make it to the CH so we can greet and everyone.

Re: Are you doing a receiving line?

I think we are going to have a receiving line directly following the church. We have almost 4 hours between the church and reception and even though we will be taking pictures in between this should give us enough time. Plus, this will allow us to say a lot of thank yous right off the bat.

ETA: It will just be us and our parents. I promised I would not put my bridal party through the torture of saying hello to people they do not know.

I didn't get married at my hall...so I cannot comment on that BUT I didn't have my bridal party in my recieving line...honestly unless its your siblings or your DH siblings people feel awkward going up to a BP member

Re: Are you doing a receiving line?

No. I'm trying to avoid a lot of the traditional reception 'things.' Besides, we're getting married at the hall, and it's a small wedding, so we'll have time to spend talking to everyone. Receiving lines are really for big weddings where you'll never have time to talk to everyone otherwise, and for when you may not know a lot of the guests very well--if they're your parents' guests, or your in-laws' guests.

YAY!!! I thought I was the only one who didn't want one. We really don't have time at the church.... but also as a past wedding guest, I have felt at times that waiting on that line is a bit of a drag.....
we will of course be going to every table during the reception...

Yeah, we probably will, after the mass.
But I don't think it's necesary, as long as you greet everyone at the reception.

I am doing one...I feel like it is appropriate after a church ceremony. I won't have my BP in it though...just us and our parents to make it quicker. I need to get pics done before the CH!!

Ours was during cocktail hour. It was just me and DH greeting our guests as they came in the room.
