Are you doing a receiving line?

Original post by Bridex100

Do you do this in the entrance of the cocktail hour area?

It can't be before the ceremony bc it would be anti-climatic to see the bride. I also doubt it would be at the reception.

Is your bridal party standing in the receiving line?

We will. Although it will take away from precious time I want to be able to say hello to everyone that went out of their way to share in our day.

we did because we had the full Mass at our Church

I think we are going to do one. I feel bad blowing off all the people that come to see me at the church. I don't feel that it is nice.

W are doing a ceremony at the church, not a full mass so we have time to do a receiving line at the church with our bridal party.

We did our receiving line at the Church after the ceremony with me, DH, and our parents (no BP). We did not do it for the CH or the Reception. We went around to every table to say hello at the reception.

We are. We are getting married at the hall too. After we walk down the aisle on the balcony we are going to great everyone at the doorway as they enter the cocktail hour. The bridal party will go right in but our parents will hang around with us while we greet everyone.

Re: Are you doing a receiving line?

Im not doing one. Im going to make a point to stop by each table to say hello to everyone. As a guest at weddings that had these- I found it extremly boring to be waiting in a line to say hello when I just wanted to get to the party.

I thought about that but I think although it is a nice tradition, it is wasteful with time. Those same people you spoke with in line also expect you to speak to them at their table!

I haven't decided yet because I know even as a guest, waiting for the bride and groom to come out can be tedious, but I have heard of another option where you go to each pew in the church and greet guests as they exit each row. I know that means people have to stick around in their pew until you get to them, but maybe it can cut down on some time :)

Yeah we're not doing the line either, we're getting married at the hall and will see everyone at the cocktail hour, at least that is the plan

We are not having one since we are getting married at the hall and the cocktail hour starts immediately afterwards. We are going to walk around during the cocktail hour and talk to everyone then.
