Are you doing Viennese Hr?

Original post by ElegantBride

We were considering Viennese hr, however at the last wedding we attended, they had such an amazing mini-Vienesse. I don't feel that I 'missed' anything at all. I guess that we have become so accustomed to the Viennese hr, but we enjoyed this so much more because it did not disturb the flow of the reception. We are doing mini-viennese at each table. What are you doing?

We are doing one too, except they call it a 'Desert Cafe' and they do it in a separate room which is nice. I just went to a wedding at the Carlyle on the Green and they had a Viennese (also in a separate room) the whole thing was just AMAZING!!!! Too bad it only lasted an hour!!! They had this whole fondue station with everything you could ever imagine dipping in to chocolate it was soooooooo yummy!

Glad to hear it was so good! We're having it at our wedding at the Carlyle.

I am doing a mini Viennese. Otherwise I wanted to have a chocolate fountain.

Honestly, if we didn't have either I would be ok with it. I personally don't notice if a couple does not have it.

So jealous Jill... We are doing the dessert trio since our affair is during the day... Good to hear the viennese is awesome! I wouldn't have expected anything less from them

If we could afford it, we would. We're spending wayyyyyy too much as it is.

we are doing the the 3 tierd platters on each table it was included in our package. Plus the cordial bar which was included as well. I don't think I need the entire hour.

I have been to quite afew weddings that had the full hour with all these goodies that hardly anyone ate so I don't want to spend money on that when I can use it for something else for the wedding

We're having the cake and each table will have a plate each of pastries and chocolate dipped fruit.

We are not doing Viennese Hour...instead we will have a selected dessert for everyone plus the wedding cake. The one thing we are having is an espresso cart...everyone in my family drinks espresso after dinner along with certain liquors...plus FH LOVES his espresso and Sambuca...

Erin, you can't have the desert cafe during the day? Does it take too long to set up and breakdown or something?

Regardless, the trio is giong to be fantastic!!!We were going to do that, but then figured we'd go with the cafe b/c we love our chocolate and deserts. I'm still a little nervous about the party stopping once the cafe is set up....hopefulyy everyone will keep on dancing!

We are not having a full Viennese hour, b/c it is already a 5 1/2 hour party. Instead we are having cookies and pastries on each table along with a cordial. They are also giving us the huge chocolate fountain (not the little one that sits on the table with the rest of the desserts for free.

Thats why Cynthia recommended the trio... she's seen too many weddings slow down once that hour started! But I wouldn't care, cause I'm a huge chocoholic and it's worth it to me!

Re: Are you doing Viennese Hr?

FH doesnt like cake so he wanted the vienesses hour (although he doesnt like chocolate either and most of the deserts i believe have chocolate) and our hall didnt offer a mini but the full hour was only $3 or $4 dollars more per person and its supposed to be incredible plus we get a 6 hour event instead of 5!!! We really have to go have a tasting though and organize our menu!!

ETA: we are also having a cordial and coffe/espresso bar

Everything is served in a side room attached to the reception room but there is a movable wall that looks exactly like the rest of the room so they set everything up before opening to the guests - it doesnt disturb the dance floor or the guests at all!!

Giorgio's included the viennese hour into the price we are paying on the day that we're having the wedding- so we went with it. I have such a sweet tooth anyway, I can't wait for dessert!

Hmmmm, we might have to rethink that. I think our crowd will be more concerned with the bar that night, they won't realize the deserts!

Re: Are you doing Viennese Hr?

We are currently doing a three tiered dessert platter, cordial/coffee cart, and of course wedding cake.

I would really like to do V Hour but when we booked, we didn't want to extend the wedding. We've recently decided to 'see how it goes' next year. If we have a lot of guests stay at the hotel we will 'rethink' whether to do the V hour - or maybe just extend the wedding another 1/2 hour for my dancing fun!

I am REALLY REALLY REALLY into the chocolate fountain and would REALLY REALLY REALLY love to have it. FH isn't REALLY into it for some reason so I need to get him to someplace that does it so he can get swayed......

In a perfect world, I'd probably just do what I have now, extend it a 1/2 hour and add a chocolate fountain.... Hmm...now how do I convince FH?

We are having the wedding cake and whatever little stuff the hall provides. We think the viennese hr. is a waste of money. more than half the weddings i've been to, people don't even eat the cake. they're either to full or to drunk

we are doing sampler plate for each person and the chocolate fountain!

Re: Are you doing Viennese Hr?

Wow, I am definitely in the minority here. No Viennese for us. I really feel like it's just too much food. I also feel that way about the cocktail hour. We will have the wedding cake and I believe we get to pick another dessert that wil be served as well. And cookie trays on each table. And an international coffe/cordial cart thing. That sounds like too much too!
