Are you freaking kidding me?!?!?! (Vent)

Are you freaking kidding me?!?!?! (Vent)

I get an email from a bridesmaid saying she can't make the wedding! Are you kidding me?!?! She tells me with less than 8 weeks to go THROUGH EMAIL!!!

We just had another BM and GM drop out about 6 weeks ago and our friend who was supposed to be the ceremony musician. You really find out who your friends are.

I am so sorry - that is rude, I hope they at least had good reasons. You really do find out who your real friends are during htis time.

That is so rude...she could have at least called you!, not by e-mail

She said it was for financial reasons. That's what they all said to us. Obviously 18 months didn't give them enough time to save money.

I just can't believe it was through an email. How wrong is that?!?!

OMG, that is terrible, I'm so sorry. That was a lame excuse, IMO, she knew the deal when she accepted. And through email is just flat out wrong!

I'm getting the same crying poverty thing from everyone right now also, except I know that everyone is in a rough spot. Luckily, no one is backing out, but like you said, people had ample enough time to put some money aside.

This bites, and I'm sorry this is happening to you.

Trust me, I'd like to tell them where they can put their dresses.

so sorry, that is WRONG. I hate how people use e-mail to do things that should be done in person(or over the phone) hang in there

Ya, know, I soooo do not understand what the h@ll that means. If it is only 8 weeks before the wedding the BM dress is already paid for. Does she think dropping out will exclude her from being invited to the bridal shower and/or the wedding. Sure she can decline to attend, but there is an expectation of a gift for both events whether or not you attend. (although I read some etiquette book that says you MUST give a gift for a shower, and the wedding gift is the optional one) Yes, I understand people spend less $$ on gifts when they don't attend, but whether or not she is in BP, the wedding is still a financial commitment.

A friend is getting married OOT. I was discussing going with FH, and he asked if we could afford it (given our own wedding plans). I told him no, but I wanted to try. I had to explain to him that even if we can't swing the expense of traveling and hotel etc, we still have to send a gift!! He asked if that was another one of the 'rules' about weddings that some random person made up to get us brides all bent out of shape over.

i'm so sorry!! arent they losing more money by backing out at this point? I'm so sorry!!

ETA: i think she was absolutely wrong for telling you via email!! very rude and hurtful!!

I can totally relate... My own cousin did the same thing to me---via e-mail.

I think it's the hotel that they don't want to pay, considering everything else is done. All our guests and attendants are from OOT. But, Southwest just had a $49 sale each way from their airport to Islip. It doesn't get any cheaper. And the other is a flight attendant, so she flies for free.

My silver lining is now our wedding is getting cheaper. Less guests.

I would be so pissed right now!!! 8 weeks prior to the wedding??? That's a NO NO and i would certainly b*tch to her about it. But that's just me. I'm sorry... but there's no excuse for that and certainly not over email. I would definitely say something to her.

Good luck! Sorry this happened to you.

I'm so sorry for you. Sounds like you've had it rough w/ the BP, I can definitly relate! One thing I don't get- didn't she already buy her dress???

so childish and rude!

she must be friends with the former BM and friend of mine who did that to me

and my Dad bought the dresses- she has ' no money' but offered to pay my Dad back the deposit

she told me in an email- after I had been calling her for weeks!

I don't speak to her anymore-

you really do learn who your freinds are!

He's been talking to my husband, I'm very sorry. DH CONSTANTLY talked about this 'imaginary book' that tells me what I should and shouldn't do wrt our wedding.
