Can I be honest and I do not mean to offend anyone, but I really do not like people somtimes.
I have a very small circle of people I call 'friends' I like to do alot of things by myself or with FH.
I am considered by many to be friendly and outgoing, but that is so not true at times.
I am the type that enjoys small intimate gatherings as opposed to large parties.
In fact, this board has made me more outgoing.
So do you guys consider yourselves to be social butterflies?

Your post just explained me exactly! FH laughs bc I'd rather go shopping, to the beach or whatever alone rather than with anyone. All the girls I meet lately seem to be jealous or catty, and I can't listen to their BS for too long! I have always gotten along better with guys, but my guy friends mysteriously disappeared when FH came along.... I also have a small group of friends, and am perfectly happy that way!

I understand you 100% that is the way I am also.
I deal with people daily and I get so tired of people. By the time I go to sleep I say 'I hate people', hubby thinks differently though.

I am for the most part quiet and sensitive. Used to be VERY shy, but that has worn off over the years!
However, once you get to know me, I have a great sense of humor! I like meeting new people, but at the bars in college etc..I would mostly people watch. FH and I hardly go out and it's ok with us! Every now and then we get together with friends. I tend to have a small number of close friends rather than a large # of acquaintances. I think this all stems from being so quiet in grammer school that I was an easy target to pick on!

I tell FI all the time I cant take him anywhere. No matter where he goes he always winds up to be the center of attention with everyone around him laughing. He could walk into a room and not know a soul and within 10 minutes be the life of the party.
We go to WW meetings and I think everyone thinks my name is Brians future wife because they will not start a meeting without brian, if someone says something they always ask for brians opinion. Its like what he says is golden.
He is Mr. personality.
Me on the other hand I like small gatherings with my friends where we can sit and talk and not have to worry about missing someone or something. Its just us our small group and having a good time.

Im pretty social..and very friendly. I do agree with some of you. I would much rather go to the mall shopping by myself sometimes. Including the gym. I would rather go by myself.

I'm what my teachers used to call a Social Butterfly. I can talk anyone's ear off...and I enjoy the people I choose to keep around me. But more often than not, I find myself HATING people. And a lot of people - mostly women - think I'm either a: snob, bi tch, conceited or shy. And somehow 'shy' encompasses snob, bi tch & being conceited. Go figure! I guess I really am a mystery! (wrt another thread)

Whats even scarier is in the meetings we always sit in the same seat and if someone sits in his seat the other people tell that person they cant sit their.
Every week everyone asks Brian first 'so how did you do this week' then they look at me and just say 'so' what dont I get a complete sentence???
Then they start asking him so whats your secret, what did you eat, how did you cook? Hello WW people I am the one who eats all the fruits and vegetables, I am the one who exercises everyday, dont you want to know my secrets. Nope not me. They want to know all about Brian.
I get such a laugh about it.

HECK NO!!! I am not a social butterfly one bit. Kysha its okay if you don't like people. I can give you a long list of a few on mine... I love being alone. Doing things by myself. Because sometimes people just irritate me. Sometimes my closest friends are too much for me. And I need alone time. I love going to the beach alone. I don't ever ask anyone to come with me. Sometimes I don't pick up the phone in my room because I want to be left alone. So it is normal. I was never one when I was younger to go with the crowd type of person. I always did my own thing whether my friends wanted to or not. I haven't changed in that aspect. And I don't need the company of 5+ people to feel special. Having one person there or FH even better makes me happy.

I'm pretty quiet around people that I don't know, but as soon as someone approaches me I'm ok. I only have a small group of close friends. I'd rather do stuff alone too, or just with FH. He's the same way as me .

It depends upon the situation. FH and I are mostly into hanging out with eachother, but that is because we've outgrown our friends. I think I am very social, but not when I feel uncomfortable. Once I feel comfortable in a situation, I can bounce around and talk to anyone. But I also tend to get self-conscious, so I guess it just depends on my mood? Either that or I am a walking contradiction!

I am usually very quiet and shy except in my own little groups where I am very talkative and outgoing. I consider myself a very warm person but because I tend to be 'quieter' I find people think the opposite of me. I wish I was able to meet people a lot easier and be more social, but the truth is that I stink at 'small talk'. I just have no idea what to say to a total stranger once we've covered the basics!
