Are you going to / Did you wear a Crinoline Slip under your gown????

Im so confused.....my dress is A-line and at first I wasn't even thinking about a slip but now I hear maybe I'm supposed to have one to make it look fuller?? The lady in the dress shop didnt say anything about it.

Is anyone else doing this/ Didn't do it? If so, why or why not?? Was it b/c the dress NEEDED it, or you just liked the look of it?????

Thanks!

Im posting a pic of my gown to show you if you think it will need it............

I just bought one for mine because I thought it looked deflated without it....I think some dresses have it built in

My dress is A line as well, and when I went for my first fitting the seamstress didn't say anything about wearing a slip either (which I thought was weird because I assumed I need one)... so I asked her about it, she said it wasn't necessary but if I liked it better with one I could use it. She got me one to try on and I thought it looked much better and fuller with the slip!
I think it's a personal preference, it's up to you! But try it with and without!

I tried on that dress and it was in fact THE dress until I found the one I actually wore...they are the same style-except with the lacing on the bottom and the waste...I did not want it to be poofy, this is what mine looked like without it...when you go for your fittings see if you like it without and see if you like it with, its really the easiest way to decide

IN essence the slip is to make it fuller-it is not necessary if you dont want it, there is a built in crinoline inside the dress but you may want more

Your dress has a very full skirt, you'll probably need it. I liked mine without it, but the dress shop recommends one even though my A-line is modified down much slimmer.

I think it depends on how poofy you want it, I am because I want it really poofy

Agreed. Pics of my dress and first fitting (with slip) are in my album.

Your dress is gorgeous!

Ask your seamstress what she thinks about a crinolin slip. I think it's more a matter of how you want the skirt to look.

Well when you put it on, do you think it looks like it needs one, or is it fine? I'd say if you can get away with not wearing one- great! One less thing to buy/worry about. But if you think it looks like it needs it, then def go find one- you have enough time!

Not that I have a dress yet, but I am set on NOT wearing a slip, so I am going to get a little extra crinoline sewn into the dress so that it falls a little better than it would with nothing under it. SO thats another option if you dont want a slip

My dress is a maggie too, and it is very similar to yours... I would post a pic but I'm clueless, the name of the dress is svetlana, it's on her website. Anyway, I am going to do the slip thing because it makes my dress fall nicer, like there are no gaps or folds or wrinkles and it appears smoother. I tried it on with and without and it will just work better for me.

If I ever figure out how to post pics I can show you what it looks like once I have a fitting. Good luck!

Hi Donna!!!! Your dress is FABULOUS!!! Here is my story. I loved how poofy my dress was but the day i went to pick it up ( after they steamed it) it was a lot less poofy. I actually wound up wearing 2 crinoline slips haaaaa My dress was like a forcefield but thats what I wanted!

I was dead set against wearing a slip, but when I tried on my dress with one it fell nicer and looked fuller.

I think this may be partly preference, partly the dress. Ask your seamstress about it and you can try it on both with a slip and without and decide if you want to wear one.

I wore the crinoline - I wanted a full dress on the bottom

I am not wearing a crinoline, my dress is poofy enough without it. I'd say try it on. I personally like the poofy, princessy look, but you may not. It doesn't hurt to try it though!

I am wearing one, but my dress really needed the extra material, since it is a white gown, not an official 'bridal gown'. Try it on both ways. You can also wear the slip for the ceremony, then take it off for the reception. I will probably do that, so I can dance a little better.

I tried on my dress with no slip and it made me look fatter then normal so I have purchased a flat top single layer slip. Since I have a fitted A-line (see album) I purchased a slip that has no poofy stuff on the top part and when it comes to about the knee area or right above it has a single layer of poof just to give it a slight fuller feel to it. I was told that is how it was photographed so that is why I did that.

Try it on with and without and take pics and see which you perfer.

You being up a great point....I didn't even really think about how theres different kinds of slips and I gotta figure out which one is best for the dress!!!

But your absolutely right, I would like to wear it with the same 'poof' just like its photographed in the pic...........................so I'm guessing she must have a slip underneath there??? Maybe I'll bring the picture in to the bridal shop and ask the lady.....but my first fitting insn't until December and I was hoping I'd know what I was doing BEFORE i went in, ya know...........
