Are you guys bringing your own toasting flutes, cake knife, etc?
Original post by BlondeJD
Just wondering how many of you are buying your own toasting flutes for the wedding or cake knives, things like that? Is this something we really *need* to get or is it optional? Thanks!!

I think it's optional, but I did receive both my toasting flutes and my cake cutter and server set as gifts for my shower and I plan on using them at the reception.

I'm definitely using whatever the hall provides...honestly, I don't see the sentiment behind 'toasting flutes' and special cake cutters. For the most part I don't drink, though, so that could be why....

I am bringing my own but did not spend a lot on them. I heard of stories where the glass breaks and stuff. I would not want to break my expensive glasses

I think it is optional but I am bringing my own flutes b/c my FIL bought them for us when we got engaged. I also registered for my cake knife & server & if I get them I get them...if not then I might just go out and buy just any ones--I registered for the waterford ones to match my flutes but if I don't get them--oh well.

The flutes we got them as one of the engagement gifts from FMIL. The Knife/Cake server I bought to go with my Hearts theme. But I think I'd just any that the hall provided in the event I hadn't liked those that I bought.

I had an inexpensive engraved cake knife and cutter that I used simply because I thought it woudl be fun to use it every year for my anniversary. I had Waterford toasting glasses that I got as a gift long before I met DH and thought about using them, but it was one more thing I did not want ot have to worry about getting home from the hall and not getting broken. One of my friend's glasses got broken as they were cleaning up and it was very sad, so I decided to just use the hall's glasses.

Not bringing ours....we got Waterford toasting flutes and really nice silver engraved cake knife etc, we actually also got a second pair of cheap ones that we don't care if we lose.

We have wonderful Waterford flutes. I wanted them for pics and since we are getting married on a holiday we can use them to drink out of every July 4th...lol.
As for cake knife etc. I really don't care. Whatever the hall gives us.
