Mom and I were discussing the relative merits of having a guest book. I hadn't thought about doing one until I started seeing some postings on here and on WeddingChannel. Mom said she'd never actually been to a wedding that had one.
Wondering what you all were doing...are you going to have one? Why or why not?
Thanks!

I am having one. It is one way to actually see who attended.

Re: Are you having a guest book? Why/why not?
i want to have one of these with this poem (I found on UW) as oppposed to a book because I feel that I would never really look at the book, atleast something like this I can display in my home.
Our Wedding Photo
Our guest book is this photo frame. We'd love to have you sign your name And write, perhaps, a line or two By which we may remember you.
Then, when our wedding day has passed, Our mem'ries of this day will last, For when we look at it, we'll see Kind words from friends and family!
[Please be sure your hands are clean before signing the photo mat. Thank you!]
This one comes with an acid-free pen and is only $20 from Site
or here is another one that comes as a kit with frame and all for $65 from Weddingshowergirfts

I like the idea of a guestbook or mat, but I wont be doing one. I've never been to a wedding that had one.

I am doing the sign-in-platter. After everyone signs you get it fired and can use it as decoration or to actually serve. Here is a pic of what it sort of lookes like.
Bride082003, where did you find that plate? It's so cute!

We had a guest book-nothing fancy of any sort, but I like something to keepsake to remember our guests who actually attended.

I am copying someone elses idea
I hot a book of photographs, and blurbs about the different regions of France, which is where we are going to HM. If people sign it, great, if not we can still use it

We did the signature board and it is now hanging in our home in the LR. I think it was a better option over the GB.

I don't want a sign in book but I LOVE the platters. Where do you place it though so people will sign it. I would be afraid it would only have a couple names AND how many names does it fit?

Re: Are you having a guest book? Why/why not?
I had a guest book (nothing fancy - it was a gift so I used it). Tell you the truth not too many people signed it. Also it was big enough for peole to write wishes to us and not one person did. I think the first person just signed their name and everyone followed suit. The book probably had like 100 pages and only the first two were written on. I felt bad - it felt like such a waste.

I am not going to be using one. Actually I have never been to a wedding where a guest book or platter was displayed. It is something that my family does not do.

We won't be having one either. I have decided that I don't want a book with a bunch of short messages scribbled in, b/c most likely I won't ever look at it.
We considered a using a plate or frame, but don't like the ideas of signatures on it...
So no to a guestbook.

i like the idea more of a platter or quilt than a sign-in book - i'll never look @ the book - where i may display the platter or quilt!

The platter I got is suppose to hold 150 names, give or take. I will make sure that the Maitre'd watches to make sure people sign it. I will put it near the placecard table so people will see it. I got my platter from The Painted Pot in Brooklyn.
