I keep going back and forth and I really need to make a final decision soon. There are around 15 people in my dept. I am friendly with everyone- probably close with two or three. I def. cannot invite all and really don't want to anyway. I am wondering if I should just not invite anyone. There is a new person who has just started that I really like. We are becoming friends. But I can't really invite her without inviting people that I have known longer- I know it's my wedding and I should be able to invite whomever- but I really don't want to hurt feelings.
The other thing is I plan to leave here in June to start my teaching career. So there is a part of me that says who cares- I won't see these people anyway. I know that there are a couple of people who expect to be invited- I don't know what to do.

Re: Are you inviting co-workers?
I've been at my job for 10 years now and i've worked in every department so it was a very tough decision. I finally whittled it down to people that I hang out with out side of work or else it would be crazy!!

Re: Are you inviting co-workers?
Same with me. We are a tight group in my department and I see them more then I see my family. We always have parties outside of work so I am inviting my whole team. Only 20 people including their significant others.

Re: Are you inviting co-workers?
This is a really tough one. I work in a small office with only 12 of us. It is going to be hard not to invite people. Problem is, I am close with about 1/2 of the people, not the others.
What do you think about inviting some of the 'not so close' people, but not with a guest?

Definitely a few people are being invited...some are maybes that I will decide if we are still close enough in the next 7 months to be invited.

Re: Are you inviting co-workers?
Pretty much all of my good friends these days are my co-workers and two are my bridesmaids. As for everyone else, I work in a school so I'm only inviting those I work with on my grade level.

Re: Are you inviting co-workers?
in a word
i work in a small lab with 9 other people. i'm a very close with a few of them and desparately would want them there. if i invite them, i have to invite the boss. that's 4 right there. i can't invite half the lab and not the other so i'm inviting them all. they all really really want to go and it means a lot to them. so i'm going to have 18 from work.
i guess it'll be worth it...i'd rather invite then feel bad that i didn't.

Re: Are you inviting co-workers?
I think my list from work was at like 20 people ( with guests) and FH only 2 people...he works in a small company. My company at my site has over 200 people , so 20 was not a lot since I spend so much time with them, more then some of my non work friends.

The not so close people are married- I think it would be strange not to invite w/ guest.
I have thought about this allll day. I have called my friends to get their opinions as well. I think I will invite the three people that I am close with and leave it at that. FH has two people he would like to invite. We can one table that will be our work friends... total will be 10. We both work in the same hospital so atleast they will all have that in common.
Thanks for all of your replies. I appreciate it very much as usual.

Re: Are you inviting co-workers?
I am inviting the 5 guys I support (my whole department), including my boss and their significant others. I am closer with people that are not in my department but inviting them would cause me to not know where to draw the line between people. To be fair I did it this way. I am sure not all of them are going to come since they live in the city and dont have cars but I thought it would be the best thing to do.
