Are you inviting your bridal party to the Rehersal Dinner with a date?
I'm in a disagreement with my parents and FH as to who gets invited to the rehersal dinner. My FH thinks that inviting more than just the bridal party and our immediate families is 'like having two receptions' and my parents think that the bridal party should be allowed dates. Since our bridal party is are all from out-of-state I tend to agree with my parents. Please help!

JMO-- I think if your bridal party is from out of town and being invited to the wedding with dates than you should invite them to the RD with dates. If they were not from out of town I would agree with your FH.
Is FH's family paying for the dinner? That may be there way of wanting to cut costs. Maybe , if the dates know eachother they can all hang out and you can recommend things for them to do the night of .. and then maybe meet up with them afterwards if you want to continue the festivities?

I think that it's a nice gesture to invite them with a date, although not everyone does it. I will invite my BP with a date. One of my friends getting married in July isn't inviting us with a date (I'm a BM). I don't think it's a second reception at all... I think when people start inviting aunts, uncles, grandparents, and OOTs then it starts to be a second reception. Good Luck

they should be allowed dates. When my FBIL got married my FH was in his bridal party and I was invited to the RD. that's like having an aunt in your bridal party and not inviting your uncle.
granted if they are SINGLE don't invite '& guest' but if its an engaged couple, married couple or a couple that has been dating that you KNOW, then invite the 'guest'

I agree with this one. If the person is single, I wouldn't invite them with a guest (unless they're OOT). If the person is in a long-term relationship, I'd invite their significant other as well.
Basically, I'll go on the 'if they're invited to the wedding with a date, they're invited to the RD with one too' premise.

I'm not positive but I always thought that etiquette says they are supposed to be able to bring their spouse to the RD. If they're single and not invited to the wedding with a date then don't invite a date to the rehersal. All of my bridesmaids are married or engaged, but their husbands aren't in the bridal party. They will still be invited to the RD. We aren't having any out of towners that aren't part of the ceremony, but that is up to you.

Most of the members of our BP are married, so we are inviting them with their spouses.

We did not do dates. Just Bridal party and our parents. My husband has been in some of his friends weddings and he has always just gone on his own.
We also tried to keep cost down as my MIL and FIL paid for the Rehersal Dinner.
Also the whole time we were handing out gifts talking bout the wedding and stuff like that. for someone not in the wedding I would have thought they just would have felt out of place. JMO

Definitly invite the bridal party with dates IF they have a significant other only.....JMO.
Im doing this for my wedding as well to save money. I am just inviting my guests with dates only if they have a boyfriend/girlfriend/significant other that I know about. You'd be surprised how much money this saves!
And you dont have to invite the world to the RD.....just bridal party/readers/parents.....JMO.

I am inviting my OOT bridal party members with their guests and of course my bridal party members who are married so I felt that I should just suck it up and invite all members with a guest.

Oh, I didn't clarify this in my original post, but all of my BP are in serious relationships. If they weren't, then I wouldn't invite them with a guest.

FH's groomsmen are his best friends and their wives are not in my bridal party, but are close friends of mine I could never not invite them. My bride party no one is married, but their bfs are invited cuz its unfair to do half and half...lol

IMO....no. But thats up to you. The RD to my knowledge, is only for the bridal party and parents. But, hey, I might change my mind in the long run.....I hate upsetting people but its all about whether or not you can afford it.

I personally feel that the bridal party should be invited with their dates esp if they are OOTers.
I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding...and my FH was not invited to the rehearsal dinner. Meanwhile, we had to take off of work and drive three hours to get there...then he had to stay by himself at the hotel while we went to the RD. i found it extremely rude.

I am in a similar situation. I am a BM in my friend's July wedding and recently found out that FH isn't invited to the RD. While we are not OOTers or anything, the RD is soooo far away and I really wish FH could go with me. Plus, only 2 members of the BP have significant others, so what is the big deal?? I think it's a little rude.

The members of my BP who are in serious relationships were invited with their S.O to the wedding, and will also be invited to the RD with their S.O.
