Are you inviting your bridal party to the Rehersal Dinner with a date?
Original post by misci918
I'm in a disagreement with my parents and FH as to who gets invited to the rehersal dinner. My FH thinks that inviting more than just the bridal party and our immediate families is 'like having two receptions' and my parents think that the bridal party should be allowed dates. Since our bridal party is are all from out-of-state I tend to agree with my parents. Please help!

I didnt even think considered whether or not they were in serious relationships or not. Only two are married/engaged out of 12 but they are all invited with guest for the wedding. I really appreciate everyones responses. Thanks for the help!

I am inviting bridal party members with dates to the rehearsal dinner if they are invited to the wedding with a date. I am inviting them to the wedding with a date only if they are in a serious relationship.

To the wedding, only people married/engaged/in relationships are being invited with 'guests', but yes, anyone BP member that is married/engaged/in a relationship will absolutely be invited to the RD.

I will probably only invite my sister with her husband, because she's married, lol. FH will invite his bro's gf, but they have been together for 3 years? In either event, a long time. The rest of his GM do not have gfs, and only one BM has a bf, but considering that his answer to having to learn how to dance for the wedding was 'Oh, I'm coming to that? I didn't think I was', he ain't getting invited LOL.

I actually think it's a bit rude not to invite the dates. I've never seen it done any other way, so most of my friends must agree. I think if the person in the BP is invited with a date to the wedding, there date should also be included in the rehearsal dinner. Since FH and I have to pay for this, it would be easy to say they shouldnt, but i think it's the right thing to do...especially if they are from out of town

No, the rehersal dinner is for the bridal party not them and there dates. And i dont think its rude rehersal dinners are for bridal party members, there dates will be at the wedding thats just extra.
but if you want to pay for all of that then go for it.

We invited our bp with their dates, well not to just bring anyone but those that are in relationships brought their husband/wife, fiance/fiancee, bf/gf. We had quite a few who were in serious relationships such as married, engaged or living together. For the most part, we are also close to their SO. We had single bp members and they came alone. I have to say that some of our bp members in relationships came alone bc their SO couldn't make it.

they should be allowed dates. When my FBIL got married my FH was in his bridal party and I was invited to the RD. that's like having an aunt in your bridal party and not inviting your uncle.
granted if they are SINGLE don't invite '& guest' but if its an engaged couple, married couple or a couple that has been dating that you KNOW, then invite the 'guest'
I agree

no it should just be your bp and parents we have no out-of town guest to worry about, they dont need dates there during the practice cermoney, it easier for me because my bridal party is either single or there other half is in the BP except one and she droped out because her own wedding is 2 mths after mine her Fh is still in it and there such good friends of ours she wil be the only one there who is not in the BP ( it would be weired not having her there but all my other single Bp people are as of know not dating there are all single and unless the get engaged in 10 mths which i doubt the will not be bring dates it gets expensive!!

I would include their date. I am having a party at home so it doesn't really matter for me if they bring a date or not but if you are having a formal dinner and a large bridal party then just tell them that the dinner if just for the bridal party. Put on the invite that it is an attend by invitation only occassion.

All of FH's GM and one of my BMs (FSIL) are married, so they will be invited with their spouses. My sisters (the other 2 BMs) are not married but will be invited with dates.
I have been a BM 5 times and each and every time I was invited to the RD with a date.
