Are you ordering a Grooms Cake?

Are you ordering a Grooms Cake?

I'm only now learning a little bit about grooms cakes. I'm curious for those of you who are ordering them, do your grooms know? When in the reception do they come out, with the regular cake? Are they supposed to be for decoration or do they feed everyone as well?

TYIA!

I'm probably getting one for the RD as a surprise for FH. Usually, if you have them at the reception, they sit next to the regular cake, and yes, they are cut up and passed to guests as well.

Oh, so do people do it as a surprise at the rehearsal dinner sometimes? (I'm so clueless)

I am doing it during the cake cutting.

I'm getting a surprise Mets groom's cake through my RH. They will wheel it out after we cut our cake.

I'm getting FH a grooms cake for the Rehearsal Dinner. It's a ice cream cake with a picture of his Halo avatar on top

So are you serving the cake to everyone as well? While I think I'd rather have one at the reception than at the RD, I don't see the point in having cake twice.

Now, that's a great idea. I wasn't doing it for the wedding 'coz there would be too much cake and dessert already. And FH really didn't think it was necessary.

So are you cutting yours up or just placing it there for people to see?

(I can't seem to get anyone to answer this question and yet I can't figure out the point of serving two cakes but I feel like maybe I'm missing something)

Again, I'm planning to do mine for the RD, but usually they are cut up if they're done at the wedding. That's why it's recommended to get a different flavor than the wedding cake.

If I did one I would do it at the rehersal dinner.

I'm def doing one! It'll be Yankees themed since FH is a HUGE Yankees fan. I'll almost def have it wheeled out right after our cake. I'd imagine we'd be cutting it up and eating it, because what else would we do with a cake lol?

Maybe I'll do it during the RD, but I doubt it. That night is one of the groomsmens bdays, so we're going to get a cake for him. I don't want mass confusion at the RD with all these various cakes flying out.

Well i will have it placed there for people to see and then have them cut it up for people to eat when serving our regular cake. I did order the cake in chocolate b/c its a different flavor than what our wedding cake will be

My cake will be cut during the reception. I'm getting a lamborghini with a deer driving it since he loves lambo's and he's a big hunter. think it would be cute. Cakes by Jay does an awesome job. He's also doing my wedding cake.

The groom's cake is going to be a 65 person size (150 at the wedding). It will be cut but not served to all guests, just to our family/bridal party tables. Then we'll take the rest home. More than anything it's a huge surprise for FH who has no idea it's coming! While we're cutting our cake, the music is gonna cut and 'Take me out to the Ballgame' is going to play, then they'll wheel his Mets cake out!
