My wedding is less than 2 months away. I have many things left to do and am looking for ways to cut corners.
I'm thinking of skipping menus.
Do you think it's ok to skip? Be honest.

hi , you dont have to print out menu's usually at the reception they tell each guests what they are serving if its not at a catering hall im sure u can skip it and then they can see and decide for themselves what they want when they arrive

Re: Are you printing menus? Do you have to?
I think it depends on a couple of things. 1 - will your reception hall print up menus for you? 2 - how many entree choices do your guests have?
My RH allows us to pick 5 different choices for dinner and they don't provide menus for us. I think that 5 choices would be a lot for the waiters to keep reciting over and over again so I'm just doing menus myself. It will make the whole ordering process go a lot smoother.
I made menus myself and they were really easy.

No... you don't have to. We're not. You never know if something is going to change with the Hall too. We're having 5 choices for dinner. Figured the waiter for the table will let the guests know

No, you do not have to print menus.
Our hall provides personlized menus (with our name and wedding date on them) already... but even without that, they are unnecessary.

We are offering filet mignon, salmon, and chicken.
I guess we'll see how much time we have left over at the end.
I feel we have so much to do! We have to plan the ceremony, get rings, go to fittings, do tuxes, do programs, etc. etc. etc.

we printed them, however if I was running out of time or had other things I needed to do it would have been skipped! Don't stress about it!

if you're feeling stressed out, then this is something you really don't have to worry about doing. most of the weddings i've been to, waiters have recited the menu and there reallly hasn't been a problem. so, menus aren't necessary. are they a nice touch, sure...but unnecessary.

My RH is providing them. If they weren't I don't think I would have them.

Re: Are you printing menus? Do you have to?
i didn't have the time or patience to print them...so a friend of mine did it. she does graphic design work, for pretty reasonable rates.
Pics of my menus in my community album. The reason I did the menus is because I didn't want the waiters to have to say the dinner choices over and over and over again, and that way the guests could read everything that was included.

I believe my hall provides them for me.

Re: Are you printing menus? Do you have to?
I'll probably print menus and write in people's names at the top so that they double as the seating assignment card...I don't think it's a must, but I know my family likes to mull over the menu and see what's coming up instead of having to wait for someone to tell them what their options are..

Re: Are you printing menus? Do you have to?
Every waitsaff knows they have to tell you the choices, so don't wory about that. If your looking to cut corners, this is def. an item you do not need. It is on my list of when everything else is done, I am bored and have leftover paper!

if you're pressed for time.. maybe just do one for each table in a frame versus one per setting..
think thats what i may do because by the time they sit their appetizer or salad will already be served..

Re: Are you printing menus? Do you have to?
I did not have menus. Everyone ate and loved it! They did not care about the menus. That is an 'extra' that I didn't feel like being bothered with. No regrets. (I didn't do programs either!!)

Same here. I saw them and they were pretty so I will just stick with them. I am not doing programs, pointless for me

I'm printing menus myself too, doing the DIY route - our hall provides them but I want to go with my whole matching theme. Menus are an extra, not necessary but I feel a nice touch.

Re: Are you printing menus? Do you have to?
i'm printing menus myself. it is a personal pet peeve of mine when i don't get a menu at a wedding. i just find it so much easier to decide when i can read it over for myself.
that being said, it's a luxury. it doesn't ruin my impression of a wedding if i don't have one.

My Hall is printing them out for me. But I definitely think it is ok to skip them. I am sure people won't even notice.
