Are you providing meals for the vendors.....?

Regarding photo, video, band etc., are you paying for the meals?I have heard that some caterers say it is mandatory. Some charge 50% of what guests are paying.Did the caterers make you write that into the contract?
Did the various vendors write a meal into their contract? or is it a given.
I would like to know everyone's experiences. Thank you.

It is only right to feed your vendors.

I thought it was a given that you feed all the vendors. My father was a DJ and he always got fed at any party he did. I have the amount in my contract because I was quoted less then 1/2 of my per head cost.

All of our vendors will get fed. If they are outside vendors than they are 50% of guest price pp for just the chicken choice. If they are Russo's vendors it is 50% of the guest price for the full menu. This is added on after our guarantee has been met.

A photographer that I knew, said not to feed his guys, they would rather the tip, instead of the meal, but at Villa's I don't have to feed them, it is up to me if I want to.

One think the banquet coordinator told me was, your photographer and videographer are with you for 10 hours, so you should really give them something to eat.

Absolutely WITHOUT question.

My hall (Jericho Terrace) told me that I will have to pay per head regular price for vendors.
Children's dishes are $50.00 STILL a bit crazy. I can't even get $50.00 worth of food!!!

I'm OBVIOUSLY gonna fight them on this...My DJ company has 7 people alone!!!!

You will end-up wanting to feed them, especially your photographer and videographer, who are with you all day. Some vendors prefer to have a bigger tip than a meal and they will tell you that up-front.

Mine also charges the same amount for vendors as guests I believe -- do you think it's bad if we catered in some outside food for our vendors to make it somewhat cheaper for us?

I think it's pretty standard to do so nowadays....my hall gave them meals for free

You really should feed your vendors. Think about it...some of them are with you the entire day. You want them to have plenty of energy, right?

feeding and tipping for me
Photo guy works for tips only (says the management) which i think sounds fishy.

It's $40pp for vendors.. for me..and that's a little over 50% of normal.

I will be feeding them. I don't want anybody getting lightheaded or getting hunger headaches.
