Are you putting 'and family' on your invites?

Are you putting 'and family' on your invites?

I have a 10 nieces and nephews who are all in my wedding party and a bunch of cousins who have children. I feel like if I put 'and family' on the envelopes they will feel like they have to bring their children when I would really prefer no children or only children over 12 because it is going to be way too many kids. It is hard because the kids are family too and should be invited and people might get offended if I don't invite them but at the same time is is expensive to have the kids come too and it takes away from the formality of the event. I don't want a bunch of kids taking up the dance floor. You also can't invite the 12 year old kid and not their younger sibling. What are you guys doing?

we are only inviting six kids (FH's niece and nephew, FH's 12 year old cousin, my cousin's daughter and son who's the RB, and my dad's daughter from his 2nd marriage) nobody else will be invited with their kids.

i agree with you that you can't invite the 12 year old but not their younger sibling ... if you don't want the younger child, then don't invite the 12 year old either.

I invited all kids from the family (both sides) and not our friends kids. I think if you're dealing with family it's less stressful if it's all or none.

I'm inviting kids.. and I'm writing 'and family' when it comes time to do my invites.

I am having kids, but the youngest invited is 11. I don't think it is wrong to not want kids there.

Besides the parents might like the idea of a night out.

the only kids really invited are the kids in my BP.

we did invite 2 sets of FH's aunts & uncles from OOT (Ireland) and they have kids (around 12-16) so we invited those people '& Family' since they may not wanna leave their kids home and travel overseas without them.

Any other aunts, uncles, cousins, or friends that live here are not invited with their kids. Otherwise we'd need a 2nd RH to fit everyone.

If you are inviting some kids but not others because of a age thing I think your best bet might be through word of mouth? I'm not really sure how you would address that in a invite without listing everyone's name that you are inviting?

My cousin's son and daughter are in my BP and their invite too will say '& Family'. They are the only lil ones in my immediate family and I am SUPER close to them since I don't have any siblings. And that is it for my side of the family...no distant relatives will be invited with kids (and kids I mean under age 16).

Ad for my FH side, his neice is in the BP so that invite will say '& Family'. And he too is very close to his two cousins and their kids which is a total of 5 there so those two families will have '& family' as well. No one else on his side will be invited with kids.

It was a pretty even slice for us since we drew the line at no kida beyond first cousin's children! It works for us....

Originally we didnt want any kids but we have so much family traveling from OOT we felt they wouldnt want to travel so far and leave their children home. The youngest aside from my son will be 6. I am offering to pay for a babysitter for the hotel for all of the kids. I would really prefer them not to be at the wedding at all and i plan on spreading the word by mouth. On thier invites I am not putting 'and family'.

The parents thanked me because they welcome the chance to have fun together without their children.

I did do it for a few people that the entire family was invited... but some of the young ones were not invited so i put individual names

Mr. & Mrs. Jane Smith
Mr. Joe Smith
Ms. Jean Smith

nope! no kids at our wedding! EXCEPT our BP (which is our 7 neices and nephews) For those invites, we did put 'the whomever family'
thats it! no one under 18!

We are inviting some kids besides my neice and nephew (Jr. BM and RB) and they are all FH friends kids. So we put and family on the invitations

if you don't want to invite the children, then you should specifically address the invites to Mr. & Mrs. only.
every person you want to invite should get their own invite if they are over 18
if a younger child still lives at home and you want to invite them then you should label it like this:
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
Miss Jane Smith

although if there is more than one child in one family and only one is above 12 it might be sticky inviting just the older kid and not the younger one

I only invites kids that are first cousins, nieces and nephews. Kids at a wedding are great, but I'd rather my adult guest have a great time and not always have to be like 'Where are the kids? What are they doing? We have to leave early because little Jimmy is tired and cranky.' Etc... Thank gd my little cousins know how to party - they stay up till 1am on any given night we all get together anyway!

Not having any kids at all. We are getting flack for it but we don't care. I don't want to deal with the stress of other people's kids even if they are my family.

And on my rsvp I am putting adult only reception.

And we are only putting the names of the adults.

I'm inviting all kids in my family (15 total). So I put and family on the invites.

I don;t want children at the wedding, but the only invitation I'm putting and family is my cousin who lives down in South carolina because she will be bringing her daughters up. They will probably stay with one of my cousins friends and not come to the wedding but if she has to bring them I rather her bring them instead of not coming
