Are you seeing your FH before the ceremony?

I was dead set on not seeing him prior to the ceremony, because I wanted to have that exciting moment when we first see each other walking down the aisle. But my photographer pointed out that since we're having our ceremony and CH and Reception at the same place, then we (and our families) will likely end up missing the whole CH because we're off taking pictures! So he thought we should take pictures beforehand.

What do you ladies think? I think we can still probably create an exciting moment to see each other beforehand and figure something out and I don't want to be rushed through the pics, but I also don't want to give up something special. What are you doing?

Well I was dead set against seeing my FH before but have since been talked into it. My FH wants us to do the pics before. We are having the ceremony at the RH and we are pressed for time. I realised that this is his wedding too and that marriage is about compromise. As for good luck or bad luck. People make their own luck. I don't see how an old tradition from arranged marriages can effect my life. Furthermore a strong marriage does not need luck. Ok off my soapbox now. Good luck with your decision.

you should do a search on this topic---you'll find that many brides are going this route nowadays. (not that either way is better, to each their own)

We are getting married at the reception site so we are going to do our pics before to save time also. If we had been getting married in a church I might have felt differently. Also I know that at a Jewish wedding it is a tradition for the groom to see the bride before the ceremony when they sign their marraige license. So maybe it's not bad luck :)

Thanks for all the input, ladies - it's nice to see all the different ideas and points of view. That's a good idea about the DOC arranging something.

we are in the same situation.. but we talked with our photgrapher and he said that as long as we give him a list of the exact photos we want he can get them done quicker right after the ceremony and we will probally end up missing some of the CH ... we extended our cocktail hour to and hour and half.. because of this

We're doing pics before hand. Our photographer convinced us to especially since our wedding is on Friday afternoon/early evening. We'll have much more daylight by taking pics before hand. I also think the reasoning behind the tradition is stupid.

Nope! We're having a church ceremony and we have 2 photographers from 12th Night, so one will be taking pictures of me and my BMs and the other will be with FH and his groomsmen taking pictures.

Since we are having both the Cermony and Reception at the same location, we were talking with the photographer and she wants to make sure we really capture the scenery on the resort. So they said that since they are doing both the video and the photography, that they will create an 'unveiling' somewhere on the resort where I will come up from behind to tap him on the shoulder. The whole thing will be shown on video and pictures will be taken.

Nope. I am NOT seeing him before. And I am having my ceremony and reception at the same place. And I am NOT missing my Cocktail Hour.

I figured we would have a literal HANDFUL of portraits... the rest can be candids.

I just always had this vision of the doors opening, me walking in and him seeing me right there - for the first time - just as I am about to become his wife.

We are not seeing each other before the wedding, but we're getting married at a church and have 4 hours in between ceremony start time and CH.

I know taking pics before is a new big thing now and I've heard that a lot of photographers are aware of the whole exictement of seeing you FI for the first time. I think a lot of them help plan something (like blindfolding the groom as you approach) to make the moment special. Talk to your photographer about this. I'm sure he can help!

im seeing my fh before the ceremony, we are taking all the pics before so we dont have to worry during the reception. also there is no break between the ceremony and reception

I will not be seeing FH before the mass.

I have waited 32 years for this and am very traditional and can't wait to see the look on his face when i am walking down the aisle.

We are having ceremony at RH as well, so it is easier to take them B4 and get them out of the way and enjoy our coctail hour - For those people that have hours in between their church and CH, then that is what that time is for
