No one ever told me to do this, and I don't know if my cats would tolerate it now. How often are cats supposed to have their teeth cleaned? Can i do it, or should I bring them to the vet?
I dont have cats but do they eat dry food? That should be enough cleaning. But I am not sure.

They eat dry mostly, wet twice a week. I noticed Eddie has little black specks on his teeth, I was wondering if I should brush them.

My one cat has really bad breath LOL . I want to bring him to the vet to get them cleaned...but I think they have to be sedated
I have seen stuff in PetSmart for brushing them on your own but havent tried it yet and I am sure that it is not as effective as the vet cleaning.

Same here. My kitty's breath STINKS. I think I have to buy that stuff at Petsmart.

I 'brush' my cats teeth occasionally. We bought the kitty toothpaste and brush (in a set) from Petsmart. He LOVES the toothpaste, so its more like he bites the brush which I've covered in toothpaste, but it ends up working well, his teeth are white.
You can have it done at the Vets, but they do have to give them general anesthesia. They generally only recommend doing that if the teeth are in bad shape.

Hm, I'll try the 'at home' toothbrush and paste.
Thanks guys!

I have thought about it - but there is no way I am willingly sticking my hand anywhere near Gunnar's mouth!
