I took his name, and I want to change my middle name to my maiden name, but apparently you need a court order to do this now.....I should get working on it.

I kept my name, he kept his. I'm trying to convince him to take mine when we have kids, but that doesn't seem to be going well.

i am keeping mine, he is keeping his. i went thru a thing and i expressed that i didnt want to take his name (why should i change mine? b/c of a patriarchal society ) , and he understood. he suggested that he would take mine, but it never went ahead and we decided that we would each keep our names and our children would have a hypenated name, b/c it is each a part of us.

I'm taking it... I thought this was cute -when my students asked me what my new last name was going to be and I told them they said they liked my name better now, ....I do too but I'm still going to takle it anyway!

No. My maiden name is the name on my law practice! Changing my name would have been like starting the business over again. And my friends always call me by my full name, even in conversation (it's turned into a nickname--they say my full name really fast).
People have to do what they are comfortable with!

hyphenating I love my italian last name-I am an only child and I like having my dad's passed on- as with children- most likely they will just have Fh's last name

I'm taking his name but not looking forward to all the changes involved!
I am looking forward to not having to spell my last name for people anymore. There is no mistaking the spelling of my new last name.
