Are you writting your own vows?

Are you writting your own vows?

I want to but I am unsure of what they should include?
Promises you wish to make to eachother, or thoughts about the relationship, or both?

i think it would be nice to do a little of both...personally i really don't know whether we will be writing our own vows or not...i think i'd rather just have to repeat after the officiant...my mind is already going to be racing...to have to read off a piece of paper...i think i'd get dizzy and fall over...kudos to all the girls who wrote and read their own!

I think both too. I am so overwhelmed by the thought of doing this though. I can write for anything else but THIS? Soooo much pressure

LOL!
We are both expressive and it only seems natural. Plus from our understanding the cermony will be in translation from the judge to the wedding coordinator anyway, that I think it's nicer then for us to just read our own anyway. Also, it's our closest family/friends of about 20, so not like we should be nervous in front of them.

We sort of wrote our own and by we I mean 'me.' Our officiant sent me 3 versions of ceremonies that he uses (provided a couple doesn't have their own) and I combined the 3 and added things I made up or found other places. It was fun.

We were thinking about it but once we read the rough draft of the ceremony from our Reverend, we realized she did a wonderful job of infusing our personalities and feelings with the entire service.

We had already started writing our own vows so we decided to go with the usual vows at the wedding but read our vows to each other on the first night of our honeymoon instead.

Those kinds of ultra-personal words and thoughts were best kept private to us. Our own. Something to share with each other only.

And then we can really be ourselves and not conform to formalities because there is clergy and family listening.

we're thinking about this. I'm not worried about my FH coming up with something, but i am worried about ME! I don't have a problem coming up with the vows, it's actually saying them in front of the group of people staring at us! I do not like attention and i get very nervous with speeches so to speak, so i'll probably need to have the paper up there with me. We'll see what happens. I would love to, but who knows.

Our Church provided us with 6 different vows and asked us to choose.

we are doing the traditional vows-- but during one part (not sure which one yet but we are thinking about maybe doing it during the candle ceremony) we are going to recite the meaning of the irish claddagh ring...

'These Hands symbolize our friendship.
This Heart symbolizes our eternal love.
And the Crown, our loyalty and commitment to each other.'

I thought about it but then I just went with the traditional vows.
