Just curious... my parents are footing about 80% of the wedding costs, we're doing about 20% and my fiance's mom is doing the rehearsal dinner...
I know there are different versions of who should pay what depending on what 'tradition' you go by... how is everyone here doing it? I would like to ask his mom to help with limos or videographer or something to help lessen the blow for us. It's so awkward and stressful!

I don't know yet... As of right now nothing was said.. My parents gave us some money but we are paying for mostly all of it ourselves!

Update since January, FH's parents are working on coming up with some money to help. This time I didn't have to ask he did all of the talking this time

FH's parents are divorced, and it's not a friendly one, so getting them to get together to pay for anything is a miracle. They're paying for our rehearsal dinner, and the morning-after brunch.

Just curious, how did you arrive at the number 80? Is that how many your parents are inviting? We were thinking of doing something like that or they may go way overboard.

Yea right. His mom is loaded but she is so damn cheap. It was 13 degrees outside and she had the heat on 60 when we visited over christmas. I froze my *** of for 3 days!

FH’s mom is deceased and his dad has not offered to pay for anything. He thinks we should just go to the Justice of the Peace

Yes they have mentioned giving us money towards the wedding, dont know how much yet...But recently they paid our deposit for photographer, one of our installments for e-party, and deposit for the dj at our e-party

Nope. We're paying for 100%. It's more because FH and I want total control over everything. We're giving our parents a fixed amount of guests they can invite, and anything over that they'll have to pay for. Which works out for me because my family will probably invite about 70-90 people and his family could invite anywhere between 150-350!!

MY MOM AND STEPDAD ARE HELPING US WITH THE WEDDING. HIS PARENTS HAVEN;T OFFERED US A DIME AND I AM NOT GOING TO ASK THEM, WE JUST DECIDED NOT TO HAVE THERE NAME MENTIONED ON THE INIVATIONS OR GIVE THEM A GIFT AT THE RD.
