Argh - Help us out with this argument about who walks down the aisle!!!

Original post by lipglossjunky73

FH is telling me that parents don't walk the groom down! At every wedding I have been to, the parents walk the groom down...

He said groomsmen stand there and the girls walk solo - but in every wedding I was a BM at, I always walked down the aisle with a groomsmen....

He said the order is least important to most important - so MOH walks last? In ever wedding I have ever been to, she has always been 1st...

What is going on? Is there something I have been missing????

Help us settle this ASAP!!

Ok, as far as the MOH, my understanding is that she is supposed to be last...before you walk out.

As far as FH walking down with his parents...I am going through a similar disagreement with FMIL. I believe FH should stand at the alter with his best man and FMIL and FFIL should walk down alone. She wants FH to walk her and FFIL down the isle. At this point, I dont even care...as long as FH is waiting for ME!

I've seen it done a few ways, but the way I've seen the most often is where the groom walks in from a side door off the front of the church and the GM's followed him, and they all stood up front. Then the parents were escorted, the BM's walked solo, then the MOH, the FG and RB's, and then the bride and whoever is escorting her. I have seen the BMs walk with the GM's, but only once or twice. In Jewish weddings, the groom is usually escorted by his parents, but that's the only time I've seen that done.

What it all comes down to, is you have to do whatever you want and makes you happiest- it's your day!

It really depends on how you two want it. I have seen it in both variations.

Liza, you're Jewish, right? In Jewish weddings, the parents walk the grooms down. EVERYONE goes down the aisle, including the officiants, groomsmen, Grandparents, everyone.

In non-Jewish weddings, your DH is right.

So you're both right. Now, on to the next issue.

I need help here too:
He's Jewish I'm Not. My mom is single and there is no one 'giving' me away. His mom insists on walking down with FH. He is not to see me b4 the ceremony (I know I'm silly) so how can this work....

Please help me too!!!!

It's easy, esp. if you're getting married at the Chateau Briand. Have the bridal attendants keep you in a separate room until FH and his mother start their walk. Then you can join the rest of the processional. Don't take that honor away from his Mom, it's something a lot of Jewish parents wait for - the opportunity to walk their child down the aisle.
