My aunt worked in fashion industry for quite some time, mainly evening/formal wear. She & my mom were discussing shoes for the wedding and she told my mom that gowns need to have closed toed shoe, or slingbacks, as open toes would look silly, as you look like your barefoot under such a pretty gown..then I’m like, she has a point I’ve seen some pics and open toe sandals look weird..
so now I’m rethinking open toe sandals..arghh why did I have to eavesdrop!!
thoughts? opinions open vs. closed?

i agree. I think it looks more elegant with a closed toe.

Re: ARGH!! shoe issue
I have heard the same arguement from my mom. I am doing open toe slides anyway. It's my day and they won't be able to see the shoes that well with a long dress on.
My shoes are in my album

Re: ARGH!! shoe issue
I have open toe. I'm more comfy in them. I tried it on when I went for my hallow to hem and it looked fine. I don't think you really see the shoes all that much with such a long full gown on, so I say go with what you are most comfy in!

I am wearing open toed shoes. I don't like wearing closed toe shoes.... All winter long I curse my shoes and can't wait until summer when I can wear my sandals. I think you should wear what makes you comfortable. Besides, if someone is looking that hard at your feet, they have their own issues!

I am wearing open-toed shoes--I don't like closed-toe shoes so the Winter *****...I don't think anyone is going to critique you on your shoes in that way though...

I feel exactly like you do. I love the summer so that I can wear sandals. I'm getting married in November and everyone said that my feet may get cold but I like open toed shoes better and I plan on getting a pedicure the day before so I want to show it off (LOL). I think it depends on what you are comfortable with.

compromise...do peak toe shoes (see mine icon) Then most of your foot is covered but a little bit of your toe sticks out.

I'm doing open toe shoes (slides) and honestly, when I tried them on with my gown, you couldn't see them at all. Not even a little bit. I was dissapointed b/c they're so pretty. So I wouldn't worry. Wear what you want. You'll still look great.

I would go with whatever you are more comfortable with, no one really sees your feet anyway so dont worry too much about it
