argh..so annoyed at my MOH...

So my sister is my maid of honor. I love my sister dearly, but truthfully, she probably wouldnt be my maid of honor if I wasn't hers or if my mom wasn't so set on that. She is a doctor, works crazy hours and is never around. I understand that but I am feeling likes he is totally disinterested in helping me plan my wedding. She didn't come dress shopping with me at all and has only vetoed all of my choices of bridesmaid gowns. Today she and my mom invited me to go to Smithaven mall (where my gown is...)and I said sure. I asked my mom if we could go into Macy's to try on my gown for my sister and then perhaps we could stop at Davids Bridal (ACROSS the street) for Jodi to try on some dresses. My mom said that sounded fine and would talk to my sister. She just called me back and said 'Jodi needs to buy shorts for her trip to mexico this week so she needs to do some shopping but maybe you can just show her the dress at macys and i dont know about davids bridal....'

It just makes me mad because she seems to not care at al! Everytime I try to talk to my mom about it she gets mad and gives me the 'Jodi is very busy' shpeal...Ugh...thanks for listening...

I'm really sorry to hear that.. i know how frustrating it is when you need peoples support and they are to pre occupied with there on life. My suggestion is to sit down and have a talk with your sister and tell her how you feel and ask her if she could dedicate more time you would greatly appreciate it. Even two hours next weekend just to try on some dresses... let her know that you feel that your wedding is unimportant to her

thanks for your advice...she is just so unapproachable. She blows up whenever anyone has anything negative to say to her! It is almost impossible to have a conversation with her!

Thats a tough one... but, i would still talk to her once and tell her that you understand that she is really busy but, a can she spare a couple of hours just one day. I would only talk to her once though, after that I would accept that she is too 'busy' to be there for you, and when her wedding is coming around you should also be too ' busy ' for her.

when you were her MOH did you do anything for her wedding? If so, then explain that to them... I would hate to have a forced MOH who has no interest in my wedding whatsoever, but i had to make them MOH because it was 'the right thing to do'... no way....the right thing to do is make someone MOH who WANTS to be your MOH. please dont let her ruin this amazing time in your life... it would be a terrible shame.

Sorry you're so fed up, it must stink that the one person you want to really be excited don't seem that interested. Both of my sisters are my MOHs. My older sister just moved to North Carolina. She hasn't even seen my ring in person. I can't think of another person who would love to help me plan every single detail of my wedding as much as she would, but she's not here so she can't do it. Why don't you tell your sister how it makes you feel when she seems like she doesn't care. She may be so busy that she doesn't even realize how upset it's making you.

I would sit your sister and your mom down and say I would love to have as MOH but if you don't think you can commit or help out when needed then I need to pick someone else. If they don't respect your decision keep throwing it back at them that you need help and someone who will be able to do things with you and you are trying to make her life easier (even though you are making your life easier). Good luck... I am so sorry you have to deal with this...I am finding that the person you want to be MOH can't do it because of obligations...so the right person for the position isn't getting it... ugh

If you really feel that you could have a more supportive MOH I would talk to her about it! THey are one of the most important people involved
