Argument with FH

Argument with FH

Okay so Fh and I are arguing because he wants a tux with crispy, classic white in the inside and black jacket and pants. He knows that my dress is ivory and champagne. Is it going to look weird in pics if he wears crispy white and I wear an ivory dress. He says that the bride and groom dont have to match in weddings. I dont know. Im about to ask if I can exchange my dress for classic white. Am I overreacting?

you're not over reacting at all. the groom usually matches the bride, just like at prom the guy gets his tux after the girl gets her dress.
Try showing him ivory dress shirts. he may not realize that there are differant shades of ivory. I know i didnt realize that when i started looking at gowns.

the pictures might look 'off' if he doesnt match. they won't look awful or anything, but you will notice it.

My FH liked classic white too - until the guy at the tux shop help a white shirt up against an ivory jacket. Once he saw it he agreed to wear ivory right then & there - he saw that it looked kind of weird. Maybe you can show him the same thing? Seeing may be believing. Good luck!

no your not! I had a similiar arguement recently. he didn't want his gms to wear purple, but silver. then the dads wear purple meanwhile my girls are wearing purple! I was like your going to confuse everyone! we finally agreed on letting it just be my way lol.

then of course about his tux. he wanted to wear all black like johnny cash. the groom is supposed to match his bride! men must not know these things.
so he finally agreed on white underneath but a black vest and black tie.

Hes saying that he doesnt care about anything I choose to do with the wedding but the one thing he cares about Im telling him he cant do. Hes really getting upset and Id rather he shut up and I change my dress than this go any further. Hes always been obsessed with what he wears so I should have known that something as simple as white/ivory would cause a problem...

But it's your wedding gown!!!

i mean, if it's not a big deal to you then i think it's great you're willing to do this. but if you are hesitant about it at all i would really rethink changing your gown. you do not want to regret your decision.
No one is going to care what color shirt your FH is wearing. That might sound obnoxious but i don't mean it to be. It's the truth. Everyone will be talking about your gown.

Is there a reason you ordered ivory instead of white?

My dress was ivory, DH had a white shirt - you can't even tell in pics. The ivory that is used on wedding dresses is not very yellow normally so it's fine to do an ivory dress with a white shirt if that's what you decide to do.

I'm wearing ivory and FH is wearing a white shirt. I think there have been threads about this before. I doubt it will make my dress look dirty and I don't think anyone will notice .

He really needs to wear an ivory shirt or else your dress will potentially look dingy in the pictures.

No one will be able to tell the difference if he's wearing ivory. The tux place will tell him the same thing.

I agree with this poster. It does have the potential to make your dress look dirty, although there is not a big difference in color when looking at them, on film it comes out differently.

The tux place will convince him!

There isnt a reason. I tried on a million dresses and I didnt get the feeling I got from this dress. I think the color goes perfect with my complexion. I decided I wanted to stop talking about it cause we were both getting worked up and got my parents involved lol. We'll just wait and see what happens at the tux shop when the time comes. Ugh hes such a pain sometimes...

You know I had the exact opposite problem. My dress was diamond white, and my DH wore an ivory vest and tie. You really couldn't tell in the pictures, but if you want to be uniform, explain to him that you are going to have to change the color of your dress... Is he really going to make you do that?

He keeps telling me not to do that but when I called and found out I could change my dress he didnt really try and stop me! I didnt change it and I wont.

Re: Argument with FH

my DH didnt wanna wear ivory either, my dress was white but my BM's were ivory...he gave me the same line of cr*p about how i picked everything else out lol...which was untrue anyway..
anyway, he went with an ivory tie, and a white shirt...it looked INCREDIBLE..i dont know what color your BM dresses are, but mine were cream and it looked fabulous
BUT i would make sure you go to a very experienced tux store, or they probably wont even know to care about that ...my pics are in my album if you wanna check it out..it looked really nice together

Yea see if he'll at least wear an ivory tie.... that would look really nice.... there has to be some sort of compromise and it shouldnt end with you chaning the color of your gown... when he can just wear an ivory tie... i think it would look beautiful and photograph well

Re: Argument with FH

Don't change your dress. Why don't the two of you together go to the tux place, talk to the guys there, tell them your dress is ivory, and get an outside opinion
