Army guy planning wedding for deployed significant other
Hello. My name is Will. I am a Long Island native. (Sayville) Have been stationed in Ft. Bragg NC for the last 4 years. My sister turned me onto this site because I am planning my wedding for me and my bride to be.
She is currently serving in Iraq and will be there till around July time frame. We are looking at a mid-September date and that would defiantly not leave us a good time frame to wait till she comes back to start. So I have told her that I will do all the legwork for her while she is gone.
We are going to have the wedding on a beach or beach backdrop (weather depending) We have narrowed it down to a blue/green color scheme. I would love any idea's or experience that anybody can give on good/bad experience with beach style weddings.
I am starting to realize what I have just undertook and want to make sure I get this all right for her. Please help... There is soo much out there for me to learn, I just need a little......OK a lot of guidance.

Now.. welcome! There are so many great places on the water on Long Island to get married. I was just talking to a Lands End bride (sayville) who has nothing but amazing things to say.
For all the details and vendors try your best to follow the posts but the 09ers and don't ever hesitate to ask questions. I'm sure any bride on here will do her best to help you give your bride the wedding of her dreams.

I am sooo sorry thought I added this. We are planning on doing our wedding on a North Carolina beach.

oh not a problem at all. (I'm a medic halfway through a night tour) While I know nothing about north carolina venues there are still tons of ideas/tips/pics you can collect on this site.
Try the knot or wedding channel to start a basic search for vendors in your area.

That is pretty funny because I am an combat medic. working on my last night of leave in NY.. I am heading back to NC tomorrow but cant sleep as I have had issues sleeping. Weather it's the massive amounts of websites I have been going threw or the fact of I have a new house to go back to (yes I just closed on our first house 3 weeks ago) So I have been this weird happy out of my mind crazy since I went on leave.

I know the feeling. It's been a quiet night for me so I'm in full wedding planning freak out mode. Congrats on the house. It must be so comforting to know that you and your FW have a place to call home.
this website can be overwhelming.. esp if you're not having a NY wedding. But there are a ton of great pictures and ideas. Try using the 'search' option and key words like 'beach' 'blue' etc. That should bring back some nice pictures and posts by other brides.

I suggest checking out theknot.com. they have pictures narrowed down by color scheme. this helped me a ton when choosing flowers, cake ideas, etc.

Have you started anything yet? If you have not, start with a location for the ceremony and reception and work from there. The other details like flowers, cake, favors, etc. we can definitely help you with. Good luck!!

Im also guessing friends/family who are in the bridal party may be from different states?
Davids bridal is great for that and Mens warehouse. You can order from any of them in any state and get the same thing! They have really updated their look and have some stunning dresses
