This is going to be harder than I thought..... I promised myself I wouldn't get discouraged even if I went to 10 different bridal shops (so far I went to 3).
Also, why do they bring you dresses to try on that you said from the start you didn't want that specific style? Why do they always make you feel you don't have much time to order a dress (well I kinda know why they do that...). Why can't I just find a dress I like?
Ok..vent session over!

You have plenty of time!!! So take your time and try on as many as you need until you find the right one! Don't let anyone pressure you into anything.

Aww I feel the same way. I'm hoping it gets better. I know they tell you the dress my be discontinued. But I do think it's all a sales pitch.

I think you are right ...I've heard that about the dress being discontinued.
I have to figure out where I'm going to go next. I went to Fantasia, Davids and Bridal Suite so far...

Re: Arrrrgggg went dress shopping....
It is NOT always a sales pitch. I have had to tell a girl she cannot get a dress that has been discontinued. It was horrible. They discontinue dress styles twice a year. The older the style, the more likely it is to be discontinued.

BTW, you don't have to worry about getting close to deadlines until November, so you do still have plenty of time.

Re: Arrrrgggg went dress shopping....
I understand the frustration of telling a consultant that you don't want a certain style and they bring it out anyway, but, some of those ladies really know their job! My FSIL was set on not wearing a few styles, the woman put her in one if those styles anyways, and now, it's her dress!
I will try to be a little more open than I had planned!

You have time, don't let them pressure you. When I first went shopping I just randomly picked dresses and it was very discouraging. When I let the saleslady start picking for me I fell in love with the 3rd dress I tried! If you go to a shop where they have alot of experience they seem to just know what will look good on you, tell them what you absolutly hate and what you love. Then just narrow it down to the silhouette you like and you can take it from there.

Re: Arrrrgggg went dress shopping....
if they bring a dress you didn't think you'd like, give it a try anyway!! i totally didn't want a lace dress. no lace anywhere at all! i ended up with a full lace dress from head to toe. it was just ME. try on with an open mind.
not sure what your budget is, but i had an amazing experience at Wedding Salon of Manhasset. they have dresses that start in a lower range. they weren't pushy at all.

Breathe and relax! Dress shopping is supposed to be FUN not stressful. Don't scoff at every different design they bring you- many times it's the last dress you'd think of trying that turns out to be the one! And don't let them pressure you! They want you to think you don't have enough time so you settle and buy something that day. They don't care if you cancel it in a week, so long as they get a deposit. I ordered in October for my May 14th wedding and the dress was in before Christmas so don't let them fool you!

Re: Arrrrgggg went dress shopping....
try on the dresses they bring you anyway. i know its annoying and frustrating when you say you specifically dont want a certain style and they bring it to you anyway. but sometimes the consultant sees what you cant see in yourself.
i know for me i was adamant i didnt want anything remotely fitted and this one consultant kept pushing this modified trumpet on me and i finally tried it on (last just to be stubborn) and i ended up loving how it looked, it actually was one of my top contenders even though i went with a different gown at the end.
just keep an open mind and know that your dress is out there!! just like you found your perfect man you WILL find your perfect dress!!

Re: Arrrrgggg went dress shopping....
I must have tried on soooo many dresses. Nothing felt right. The perfectionist in me kicked in. I had tried on almost 50 and then my budget increased which made it easier but meant I had to start looking at all new dresses. I was definitely discouraged. Needless to say I went to a store and the woman was amazing. She pulled 4 dresses exactly like what I told her I wanted. I was certain I knew the style but this time... And she also pulled one dress that she asked me to please try on. It was nothing like what I wanted. But oh my goodness, something about me in that dress worked. I wasn't crying and making a big fuss but I was relieved bc I knew in my heart I didn't have to keep looking. My advice is to try to be open minded with styles!

I feel you sister friend, I went to 4 different stores and tried on about 40 dresses. The one for you is out there, just keep calm and keep looking.

Re: Arrrrgggg went dress shopping....
The dress that I ended up with was chosen by the bridal attendant at the Wedding Plaza. Luanne honed in on what I loved about certain dresses and what I hated about others and chose the dress of my dreams!!
My grandmother always said, you're not a hanger so unless you try it on, you'll never know how it looks just with it hanging there!!
Try on as many as you possibly can/want...when else are you going to go wedding dress shopping...live it up and think of it like playing dress up when you were little...laugh a little too because some of them just look GOD AWFUL, but bring you to tears with laughter...and we can always use a good laugh!!!
