Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire?

So FH & I need A LOT of help in the dancing department, we're totally helpless.

We are thinking about going to either Arthur Murray in Merrick or Fred Astaire in Garden City. Does anyone have any feedback on either?

Re: Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire?

Never been to either, but i did some research some time ago and they are expensive. For anyone in West Islip, I highly recommend our studio. We travel to it from Long Beach, they are very reasonable, great teachers, and there are always wedding couples learning their steps.
If you want to forum me I will give you the rates etc.

We go to lessons with Victor Goldman, cooperative partners. He is an advertiser on this site. He is great!!!

Re: Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire?

I think if you got to Fred Astaire website there maybe a coupon for free introductory lessons. I did the free lessons at Fred Astaire a while ago and it was fine but they do give you a hard sell for additional lessons. It would be a good way to try them out.

I use an amazing instructor if you are willing to come to Queens.

Re: Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire?

We took lessions at the Arthur Murray in Merrick, they were about $500. I think there were 6 private lessons and 6 group lessons. I hated the group lessons they wanted you to dance with strangers, my FI and I started to argue right in the dance studio. The teacher asked if anything was wrong and we havent been back since. He called last month, I think he thought we were not getting married after the scene we caused. But the lessons themselves were very good, just do them close to the wedding day, we forget EVERYTHING and FI is kicking me for spending all that money!

Re: Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire?

we went to arthur murray in bayside...

they were very patient with us...DH was BAD...by the end of the 6 lessons (we went to one group...but that was it)...another instructor was telling a new couple to watch us...

not that we are anywhere near good...but it was definitley worth it to make the impression at the wedding...
