Aruba activities

We just booked our 1 year Anniversary trip. We are so excited to go back to Aruba! We want to keep it low-key again, but want to do a few activities like def. the kukukunuku again.

Last time we also did the:
Sunset Dinner Cruise (Le Dome)
Half-submarine

we are thinking of:
renting a car for a day and hitting baby beach..should we go anywhere else?

I would like to also maybe do another boat thing of some sort..I loved the dinner cruise but it was kind of $$

what other things are must-dos?

wow... sounds like you have some ideas of what you're doing. I'm actually going the end of Feb with my FH and his family b/c they have a Time Share. Only was there once for a day when we took a cruise last year. Since Scott's been there b4 he took us on a tour and we rented a jeap and went off road (you should try the RV's). WE also went to that Amazing Steak House that everyone's been to and I can't think of the name.

If you have any ideas for me since you've done a lot already I'd appreciate it. :)

Re: Aruba activities

When we went on our HM....we only went into town 2x...went to a casino one night.....then did a full island tour to get acquainted.

We have a timeshare so we know we will be back and we are just planning to do one activity each time....the rest of the time will be laying in the sun....swimming in the blissful water....and napping under the palm trees!!!!

Oh I think next time I want to do a boat tour or scuba trip

We just returned from vacationing in Aruba and one of our favorite activities was renting a Jeep Wrangler and going offroading on the backside of the island (there is a cool national park with lots of 4wd trails). It was a lot of fun.

I just came back from Aruba and to be honest I didnt love baby beach. It changed from years ago. But I would def. rent a car. The island is so small that you can do the whole thing in a half hour.

you could always take a ferry or fly to another island for a day.

oh~! Which other island can you go to from aruba, that won't be too expensive or too long of a trip?

The kukukunuuku (which I NEVER know how to spell) is a lot of fun. It's a party bus..so there is fun music, the bus is decorated with all kinds of crazy slogans on the inside. After it picks everyone up at their hotels you stop at the lighthouse for a champagne toast (see pic!)

Then they bring you for dinner, and then you go bar-hopping..ending at Carlos & Charlies (Actually the lamest of all the bars we visited)..a must-do!

I was just reading that baby beach has changed..it's not as calm and the oil refinery is right there spoling the prettiness of it. There is another I read about that looks good for snorkeling but I forget the name.

We LOVED the sunset dinner cruise and are probably going to do it again now (DH changed his mind!)

Here is a pic from the half-submarine which was also a lot of fun.

And thank you all so much for your suggestions. I am willing to try the jeep tour but DH doesn't want to get dirty (what a little princess! lol) no, seriously, he has bad asthma and allergies and I think is worried about that
We are thinking of doing one of the tours through a taxi company. We had a taxi driver on the way back from dinner at the Flying Fishbone who lived in the area and it was really interesting talking to him..I know I've read about different companies doing them for 2-3 hours and covering the island

Definitely eat at the Flying Fishbone. It's so romantic and the food was incredible. We went to DePalm Island and did Sea Trek. We walked on the bottom of the ocean floor, which was incredible. We also snorkeled there as well.

Re: Aruba activities

There are a million water activities to do. I went parasailing, went on a banana boat tour, rented jet skis. There are also caves in the national parks to explore during the day, they close at dusk. But you can always go see the Natural Pool and go swimming!

Or you can see the natural bridges. I believe one collapsed ( ) but there is another one.

But if it was up to me, I would sit on the beach and wait for the sunset every day...

DH and I are going to Aruba for the 2nd time but for 2 weeks now in July

We are starting to complie a list of activities because we know we will get bored with just laying around for 13 days.

We are considering:

~sunset cruise or daytime sail
~snorkel at Baby Beach again (him, not me!)
~ Visit the Natural Pool
~Rent a Jetski
~submarine ride

Re: Aruba activities

DH and I went to Aruba a few summers ago and we CANNOT wait to go back. My favorite part of the trip, besides staying on the beach all day, was the jeep tour we did. Neither one of us are very good stick drivers so we went on a tour and had an awesome driver who took us on a 10-hour tour that was supposed to be 5-6 hours. We missed our pre-paid sunset cruise that night, but we didnt care...we explored every last bit of the island. The natural pool (which I wouldnt suggest driving to alone) natural bridge, natural hot tub (a far climb), rock garden, the caves a church or two, and baby beach. It was so fun and interesting. If you do this, make sure you bring a towel (if swimming in the natural pool/baby beach), TONS of sunscreen and spf lip balm and an empty digital camera card because there will be a million and one opportunities for Kodak-moments! Have fun and enjoy yourself! :)
